Was Mike Tyson a cherry picker in the 1990's?

Anyway, contrary to your delusions I haven't come on this thread to criticize Tyson, and haven't criticized him at all.
I just read someone saying Bruce Seldon wasn't the worst champion, and asked who was worse. I agree with you when you mention Charles Martin, he was even worse, yep. I didn't expect you to go on some mission to boost Seldon's reputation though. As you know as well as I do that Seldon was ****ing crap and couldn't take a punch (or even a gust of wind).

And, no, I don't agree with the people who say Tyson cherry picked back in 1995-'97
McNeeley was awful but that's the first fight back in 4 years, so he gets a pass. Mathis Jr wasn't bad at all for the 2nd comeback fight. And Bruno and Seldon were world belt holders. Holyfield was considered past it but was definitely still a legit contender, as legit as anyone else out there at the time, more or less. That's not a 5-fight cherry-picking streak at all, after 4 years out of the game. That's a legit run.
That's my answer to the thread.

I don't know about that, the bombs Foreman threw would create gusts of wind that would tear the Donkeys tail straight off Howard Cosell's scalp, Seldon would be comatosed I'm sure......

While I would agree Foreman cherry picked a bit, the man was old. This thread isn't about Foreman Sangria. Tyson could have had a fight with Bowe. He didn't face Mercer either. Are you suggesting Don King couldn't make matches with the other top ten fighters in the 1990's, outside of Ruddock? Or are you saying King didn't want to put Tyson in there with a live body, and was protecting him?

There is a full thread on people Tyson fought when he could have been making more money vs better competition. Seldon was a flop. Bruno older, his last fight. Cherry-picked opponents, regardless of what rank they had. The cherry pick was the other 4 guys he fought, in the 1990's which added nothing to his resume.

Mike's best win in the 1990's is Ruddock.

No, I'm not a big fan of Wilder. He's one lucky man that there aren't any American heavyweights who can fight these days. I call him a belt milker and lucky vs Fury. WIder has beaten exactly one top ten heavyweight in his prime.

Not only are you a Tyson hater, you're an Axel Schulz lover! Did he beat Moorer in your eyes as well? Schulz just wasn't that good. Neither were old Foreman and Botha, for that matter. I think Seldon beats Schulz unanimously. Bruce is looked upon in a bad light because of those odd appearances against Bowe and Tyson. And maybe rightfully so. He did come off the floor to KO Jose Ribalta, and he was beating McCall all night long until he found out McCall's chin was gigantic and lost the endurance battle. And that version of Tubbs came thisclose to besting a young on the rise Bowe. So Seldon was pretty fast and could take what Schulz could dish. Head to head and comparing resume, Seldon > Schulz.

    Sorry, hater.
