Im saying, on the whole. Cocaine had a much bigger negative impact on Tysons performance than positive

I'm totally agreeing with that, but the issue still stands.

it gives you stamina and bravery, does the coke.

useful, only if you are a cowardzag who needs better lungpower to beat more skilled yet aged opponents.

Did he take it immediately before a fight? That's the only way I can see cocaine enhancing performance.

My thoughts are that what are saying is really stupid. Anabolics have been used for a long long time before Tyson came along, so to say he would have been one of the first boxers to use them without any evidence whatsoever is just stupid. He also had crazy physique when he was in his early teens, so unless he started munching on anabolics in the ghetto when he was 8-9 years old, then it is much more likely to put it down to his freak genetics.

yeah anabolics were around in Hitlers time, weren't they?

And probably before that in some form.

First widespread use of anabolics as we know them today was noted in the 1970s, however a lot of athletes were using slightly less refined form of synthetic testosterone for decades before then.

Despite the fact that Tyson LOOKED like he was on steroids, i have never heard even a WHISPER from people I know who are inside the game about Tyson being a juicer.

EVERYONE knows about Holyfield, Toney, Pacquiao, etc, and anyone who thinks these guys WEREN'T juicing is in self denial. Anyone who's spent 48 hours in the Wildcard Gym knows the influence that HGH and EPO have in the Wildcard Gym culture (not that Holy trained in the WC...but he had his own suppliers).

But I can put my hand in the air and say that not a living soul that I know in boxing has ever mentioned Tyson when the topic of EPAs came up.

My best guess.....Tyson was simply a one-off......a freak of nature.

    Aha thanks for that.

I had previously thought the Nazis had a headstart with it. Who knows what those buggas got up to with Wakolda and co.

Yep, Nazis were experimenting with synthetic testestorone during the war, but anabolic steroid is a somewhat refined version of that.

Tyson muscle mass is big nowadays also.
But the muscle mass wasn't his biggest "weapon" !
His fast twitch muscle fiber ratio and his reaction time is the key of his success.
    This is a genetical thing(sprinters,weightlifters).
The steroid couldn't change the genetical factors.
The steroid is " important " for some ectomorph/lanky athletes in the sport.
    Tyson is MESOMORPH.

You must not have been listening very hard. Tyson was well known for using cheque drops before a fight along with the usual PED protocols during an era that was wide open in terms of usage.

There is this romanticism behind Tyson. People just want to believe he was this all natural freak of nature and this may have had some truth, particulary in his early years. However the guy was no stranger to the misunderstood world of PED's.
