True 1-punch KOs over quality opposition is rare, even at HW. Even Tyson and Louis usually put together combinations to put fighters down for the count.

One Punch Stopped Cold KOs over Ranked Fighters:

    Wlad-Chambers
    Rahman-Lewis
    Oleg-Rahman I
    Foreman-Moorer
    Marciano-Walcott I
    Walcott-Charles

....sure there are more, but yeesh, its not common. Why the high standards? Moore scored one punch KOs over solid enough HWs, can't ask for much more than that.

So did Moore have a better power than Walcott?

Moore was a better finisher. Walcott seemed to have more effective single punches. Though really, I wouldn't want to be caught by either man's best punch.

What Nick means is that he should have won the first Louis fight, but the official verdict went the other way.

    Manassa,

What's your opinion on George Araujo?

Ah, well, I used to praise him a fair bit. Haven't brought up Jimmy Carter in a while now, but I've liked him for a long time. The Araujo fight sticks out the most in my mind because he was a more than competent fighter and actually the favourite over Carter, but was broken down and dismantled. I love those fights. Araujo was mobile and skilled, but Carter's combination of strength and accuracy ruined his career.

Always thought Carter was a lot better than his record. I mean, a lot better, because when you see him at his best he looks like he belongs in the same class as any other great lightweight. Obviously he didn't beat the best Ike Williams, but Carter claimed plenty of other quality skulls.

He also lost a few on purpose.

Just to add, I would suggest that Carter, ability wise, was more approaching the tier of Carlos Ortiz and Barney Ross (i.e top eight) as opposed to sitting at Ismael Laguna or Sammy Angott (#10 to 20).

Essentially you were looking at a lightweight Dick Tiger with faster feet. Carter stood in the upper echelon for durability, strength and technique, was very accurate, had pretty quick hands and could hit with enough power to hurt anyone.

Moore wasn't able to knock Lavorante down even once though. He just wore him down gradually.
