Yeah he was weight drained, I watched the fight yeaterday and the commentators were talking about how outraged people were about Oscar fighting a featherweight. As soon as you saw Oscar walking to the ring you knew he was gonna take a beating, he looked weak as hell. I think he forgot how old he was and was expecting to make the weight as easily as he could have done earlier in his career
This is Dela hoya v Pac http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/12/09/de_la_hoya.jpg This is dela hoya v mayweather. http://www2.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/Junior+Middleweight+Championship+Oscar+De+sE9GtXo1ATol.jpg
He didn't train properly for the fight and had a **** poor cardiovascular regimen during camp. Not to mention he was embarassed by Valero in sparring. Therefore, he had to make weight by dehydration and water restriction=weight drained and sapped.
Yeah, it's funny that a fighter who has NEVER been in trouble on the ropes in any single fight (except when Vargas was actually trying to drag him there) is suddenly supposed to be pulling a rope-a-dope. Not a great win for Pac except in name, most *******s would say the same thing. I think his post DLH fights were great and he deserves all the praise and attention for those wins, but the DLH win is stained by certain things 1) Oscar's time in the gym. Overtrained? Well, he was supposed to fight Mayweather in rematch earlier that year, when Pac fight was made DLH was already in gym training for Mayweather. There were like two months to prepare for Pac instead. 2) An IV in the arm is an IV in the arm. Would an IV in the arm by any other name smell just as sweet? It does if you're looking to bloat up a resume. 3) Oscar was already not the same fighter that fought Hopkins. He was passed prime, losing serious speed, flatfooted, looked more like John Ruiz than the early Oscar which reminded people of Arguello.
You can find all the reasons in the world for Oscar looking like **** against Pac but the bottom line is that the number 1 reason is Pacquiao. Pacquiao put on a masterpiece that night and that right there is undeniable. His gameplan was solid as **** and his execution was perfect.
Sure Pacquiao performed the way he should have under those circumstances but lets be real kid, DLH hadnt fought at that weight in years... it was clear as a bell that he was weight drained when ever you have a trainer on the opposite side admitting that DLH was weight drained why do you even need to make up excuses.... cutting down that kind of weight especially at Oscars age and at that stage of his career it will effect you no matter who you are...
It's easy to look perfect in front of a fighter who's done. When an older atg is literally tripping over his own feet in the ring then the world is your oyster. But there was a point where DLH was literally stumbling on his own feet.
Agree, Marquez at his best is skilled enough to be competitive with FLoyd but Floyd would bully him and score 2-3 more rounds himself. Marquez bulked up was totally wrong idea for him, Marquez aint puncher he just became elephant in front of the cheetah ... but who knows how much would Floyd change if he came 2-3 lb short, just think about complete Cotto destruction against PAc after he was forced to drop down 1lb of his weight, that was only 1lb, imagine Floyd dropping 3 lb!!!
Forbes fought Oscar at 150, 6 months earlier, and lost every ruond. No way he beats Oscar even at 147. You know, before Pac vs Oscar, I remember someone saying that Forbes would knock out Pac in three rounds. That's how underrated Pac is. Anyways everyone's mind is already made up so I'll agree to disagree
