Ketchel is very over rated. Just a theory Jack Johnson fans rate him high, mostly because he floored and had him dazed.

Perhaps you might want to take is record at middleweight, and light heavyweight into account?

I hate to go against the tide but I see some nice work in the dirty boxing/MMA mode here, which was essential given the gloves they were using and the meshing of their styles. It ain't aesthetically beautiful but I certainly wouldn't call it uneducated. Sometimes that term applies more to the beholder than the beholden.

His resume has a lot of fluff on it. He caught Obiren past his prime and best Papke. Those are probably his best wins. Papke was one of those fighters who could be good if he trained. Many times he wasn’t trained.

nope. Show me a Johnson fan who doesn't think much of Ketchel? I think that would be uncommon.

for a guy who loves to troll on old timers filmed that lack skills,Ketchel offers a Felid day.

In here we always have to be watchful of the differences of H2H vs greatness via achievement.

Stan is one of the greatest fighters in history via the latter criteria.

By the former i personally don't think his effectiveness would translate to the modern era's but that doesn't make him any less "great".

I'll seldom pick if ever pick him H2H but in a greatness list he's a big cheese.

Ketchell fought in a deep era of middleweight talent, and beat all of the top men.

His reputation does not in any way rest on dropping Jack Johnson.

He also beat O'Brien more convincingly than either Burns or Johnson.

Why even bring Johnson into it at all, we are talking about Ketchell here?

Deep Era at middle weight? He lost to the best middle twice if you include Langford on newspaper reviews.

Ketchel is on two filmed fights, one vs Papke and once vs Johnson so you have to bring Johnson into the conversation. We can judge him here in both fights and his skills and strategy are rather poor.

I think he caught O'brien down on points. Would have to check.

I think he's a little overrated in a greatness sense, both P4P & at MW.

H2H, he's a beast! His ceiling being favoured to beat guys like Tiger, Flowers & LaMotta imo
