Problem with those "flashy combinations" he was pulling his punches to make them. Yeah, you can throw more and faster if you don't sit down on the punches. That is why he was winning the first boxing match but losing the fight. The judges in the first fight bought that crap and had him ahead, but the accumulation had him done in by the beginning of the 6th.
7-5 Pavlik. Some rounds were close, but I like Pavlik's busy output over Taylor's light punchings. Also damage has to play some part in the scoring, and at fight's end, Taylor's face was swell, and Pavlik's face was unmark. Kelly landed the harder punchers, and control the pace of the fight. I dont think last round flurrys or looking flashing should play a part in the scoring.
7-5 Pavlik. It was a close fight up untill the last few rounds in which Pavlik took control. Like some have said It was not nearly as entertaining a the first fight.
Perfectly stated...5 rounds apiece after 10. KP stepped on it in the last 2 & JT started to gas. Kellys 1st time going 12. He did fine, but he himseld admitted that he didn't seem right out there. Must have been that strange couch he slept on in Vegas.
I thought it was 8 to 4 Pavlik, so many of Taylor's punches were fully or partially blocked and Kelly controlled the middle of the ring. Alot of people cheer and get swayed when someone throws wide aggressive shots whether they land or not.
It was a close fight that could have gone to either man....no arguement from me if someone wants to say either won...just if anyone is saying it was a robbery, they are idiots.
The judges scores were 116-112, 115-113, and 117-111. I had it 116-112. On fight night I thought 117-111 was to wide. After re-watching it a couple times I thought 116-112 or 117-111 was the right score.
