in his first big fight he went over to the UK to fight Junior Witter while completely broke, and won a split decision. crazy to think if one card was scored a point in the other directon, he would have faded back into obscurity just a reminder that judges make or break careers
Short of great, but very good fighter - deserved Hall of Famer. Was willing to fight anyone (There was a moment He was accused of ducking Amir Khan - when this fight was talked about at 140, after Bradley's win over Alexander - but it was when He was in the middle of contract dispute. Soon He signed with Top Rank and got Pacquiao fight, so hard to blame him.). If You're going to go back to watch his fights, You should have fun time with it. He had very eventful and interesting path to follow. Came up hard way with no big promoter, won title on the road, unified twice at 140 - then had a fun run at 147 fighting legends in Pacquiao and Marquez - but also some young contenders like Vargas and Chaves. All those fights were interesting for one reason or the other. Retired at right time too, when He didn't have the same Fire(man!) in him anymore.
Bradley was tough as nails, elite fighter. Only lost to 1 man, gave us a fight of the year with Provodnikov.
Pacquiao won, same with horn. It were typical bob arum in house robberies. If he gets a clear 116-112/117-112 type won there is no need for a pointless rematch and rubbermatch. Bradley did well but it wasnt enough. Same with Jmm vs Bradley. Majority of people will say Tim rightfully won.
Let’s backtrack a bit. What’s the common denominator? Ali vs Foreman? Take away the entity that’s ‘Bob Arum’. Take the blinders off.
He was a very good fighter. He had good speed, put combinations together, and had some decent pop and compiled a good resume. He's a shoe in for the HOF no doubt.
Timmy was very good. He was top 140 fighter and one of the top 147 fighters of his time. Also had a fight of the year against Provodnikov.
