It was a bad stoppage because even though I've been a fan of Zab's talent, think how great it would've been to see him dance like that AGAIN! The superman vid (on phone so can't link)where he slaughters Mitchell and says "it don't go down like that" would've lasted twice as long, and been twice as funny.
The glaring mistake that Judah made (alright sure, he's out of whack but then again...) is he got up immediately. A veteran knows that after getting dropped the best thing to do is at least get up to a one-knee down position, take at least until the count of 8 before standing up. We got up while his brain is still scrambling and his legs followed suit. He may have been managed to extend the fight if he did what I mentioned above but I'm not sure if it was better for his health had the fight went on.
Depends. If a boxer could've been saved by the bell in that fight, then, with only 1 or 2 seconds left (after Zab got up the 2nd time) Zab would've indeed been saved by the bell. Controversial stoppage..
It was not a flash KD where he could have taken a knee. He was hurt and went up on instinct. Hard to influence that, it's a reflex.
Yup and the round was over before Tszyu could hit him again. Letting Zab rest another 60 sec. But Zab was probably mentally broken anyway after the chicken dance..
Hmm where did you read this? I don't recall something like this being mentioned in any of the Organizations' rules :think
yeah I know. he was so hurt he didn't take a knee, although, I think Nady should have let it go. I am not sure the rule was in place where if a fighter goes down and then gets up it is an automatic stoppage, but they should have stipulated it in a different way. Like when Berbick went down against Tyson, he went down and then stumbled all over. I don't think they meant it the way Judah did where he got up fast and then went down fast again. The fact he went down so fast was because he tried to hide it. Either way Tszyu would have never let Judah recover and would have knocked him out the next round, since I know it was at the end of round 2.
A better question would've been"how many kids were created, born and started school in the time it took Nady to realise Barrera legally KD'd Marquez?" And I'm a big fan of JMM,so no need for a brutal Chicano assault amigos.
Good common sense there Mag. You only have to look at the way Zab points as if to say "why did you do that man?" to realise he was completely separated from his senses. I'm no fan of Nady but he got that one right.Imagine if Zab had been badly hurt after carrying on.Nady would have been crucified on every news programme for years. But the "Superman" vid on YT will always be on my top 5 ATG list.
Zab is lucky Nady stopped it, because had he not he would have been recovered a little just to be knocked down badly and then he would not have been as sharp physically to have the long career he had after that fight.
I think its a fine stoppage. If a fighter gets up and then falls back down as heavily as that you're entitled to think they're not fit to continue.
Lol what a ****in laugh that was.He gets up looking like he`s got mad cow disease haha then started to attack the ref for calling it off.Great right hand shot by Tszyu though. No wonder he went down TWICE,don`t think its a glass chin coz that was a peach of a punch.Still makes me laugh the way he tried to get up haha.Definite right stoppage decision btw,it`s ridiculous to make this thread debating it.
