Wilder still has not defended his title vs a legitimate top ten opponent. He gave an unknown Washington a shot last night and was being outboxed until landing the bomb in round 5. Wilder looked a little hurt in round three. Washington really isn't a puncher. So what's going to happen when he actually offer a title shot to a Ring Magazine top ten ranked opponent?
I thought the stoppage was a little early. Wilder was swinging wildly and not connecting after the initial knockdown. Washington tried, but he's not very good. A poor man's Jamel McCline if you will.
How many times does Wilder need to be "exposed" before people realize he just isn't very elite. The Molina bout spoke volumes. The Gavern bout spoke volumes. Looking to fight Wawrzick spoke volumes. He has a good right hand and I wouldn't even say it's as good as some believe. He has that and he's tall which means he's hard to get too. Other wise he is abysmal. His coordination is poor, his technique is awful. His balance is garbage. He is not physically strong. Can you imagine Ray Mercer in there last night with him from the mid late 90s. Wilder never sees round 5
That fight last night didnt tell us anything we didnt already know about Wilder. He lost those early rounds but that was as much to do with what he was wanting to do in those early rounds. He was bringing Washington on to him to catch him on the way in. Washington by default was doing the bulk of the point scoring. As soon as Wilder started coming forward in the 4th he prob won the round and then finished it in the next one. If Wilder didnt have that power he would be in real trouble against the level of opposition he is facing, even with it i think he is in trouble as soon as he faces the guys he shares the top 10 with. But last night he could of steamrolled in from the 1st bell and we would of been looking at a 1 sided 2 round KO.
I was thinking Washington was a tad better than Austin , Calvin Brock and we all saw he was much better than Eddie Chambers.
Chambers was better than Washington. He actually was competitive or beat better competition. Brock hit much harder and was more accomplished than the 18-0 Washington who beat no one. Austin actually compares well to Washington, and Wlad who you want to troll on blew him out with a tremendous left hook in round 2.
As I said before Dino is a poor player hater, his posts make little sense and likely bring down the collective average to his " cause "
Wlad beat Austin without throwing a single right hand in the fight. And. I agree Mendoza Brock and Chambers were both Miles above Washington. Most people would agree with that.
Chamber lost every round to Washington. He actually out-done Wlads performance against Chambers. His win came clean and clinical. Wlad hugged , groped and molested Chambers all night. It was like he hadn't the skills to defeat him without illegal fouling. But Washington beat him using pure boxing skill. How is that?
I didn't really think Washington really did anything special I just thought Wilder started out flat it's not like Washington dominated or was beating him up. it was a pose fest with Washington throwing more but not landing anything damaging Wilder woke up and put him away.
Chambers was past his best and went the distance with Washington. Wlad KO'd him at his prime. Do you understand the difference?
