I just haven't heard the term used for a while

Funnily enough that was pretty much the first time it was used too.

I guess the term "counter hook" wasn't good enough for some.
What's next? A jab becomes a long-arm left straight?

 

To be fair it wasn't used much before Hatton-PBF, mainly because most of the people who started using it after the fight didn't know what one was until Manny Stewart told them in the commentary.

 

There is no such thing as a check hook.

exactly. it made me **** all these kids suddenly using the phrase when they blatantly had never heard it before or knew what it means, if it means anything .
