Joshua wins this though Povetkin has a punchers chance. Povetkin doesn't do too well as against fighters with height and reach advantage. Price could have beaten him if he wasn't so stupid. Price fights like a man who is 5'5 with no choice but to stay inside the pocket. Had he decided to stay on the outside and use his jab and feet which is what Joshua will do, he'd have stayed out of ranged from his devastating punches. Saying that Povetkin is an animal with a point to prove and it would be stupid to bet against him.
If Joshua can't even beat a 6 foot 1, 39 year old blown up cruiser weight. Then Joshua deserves to be considered one of the worst and most overrated champions in history. I have very high standards for Joshua (based on what his own fans have set for him). And if he fails to meet those standards, he would deserve every criticism that he gets Joshua shouldn't lose a round and should totally demolish Povetkin whilst barely getting hit by a single meaningful punch. Since as we all know, Povetkin isn't on his peds anymore. Thus, he shouldn't pose as much threat. And he is just a limited come forward fighter who isn't that good according to some. Thus, Joshua shouldn't struggle and even if he does meet the standard and expectation, he should receive no credit fo rwinning since Povetkin was never any good to begin with according to some. Joshua should receive as much credit, or maybe even less for beating Povetkin as Povetkin does for beating David Price.
Still don't get the bitterness towards Joshua. If there's one thing boxing fans hate, it's fights not being made. If every boxer stepped up like Joshua has in his 21 fights then I think we'd all be very happy. I can only imagine the scenes on here if Joshua took a soft voluntary..
Povetkin is old, washed up and due to political polarity has become disenfranchised with the boxing establishment. The man was mistreated and now is fading faster than the Liberal Utopia that Hillary Clinton planned for thanks to Adolfos Trump. Despite all this Povetkin will make Joshua seem incredibly vulnerable, and will damage him good. Still I feel Joshua UD’s him. Actually, **** it, Povetkin ko’s him in the 4th round and gets the upset.
Ideally Povetkin first , then Wilder. Im glad the WBA are enforcing this fight since Hearn tried to pawn Povetkin off on Whyte. Now they will have to accept it or risk being stripped.
Good fight, Povetkin still a big player in this division even if his time is running out. I would favour Joshua mainly based on the Russian not being a fan of big men with a long reach and a good jab and Joshua being all those things but he only lost to a younger fitter Wlad and Wlad is a master of the jab, Joshuas is improving but a long way off being a master of it. As a big AJ fan i will be honest and there were 3 fighters who would make me a very nervous viewer against him and they are Wilder, Povetkin and Ortiz. Ive got to say after watching all their last performances id be actually a bit less nervous but only a bit. I know we all want the Wilder fight next and the papers may talk only about that but dig deeper and we all know it is not that simple and it has become quite clear that other fights are being lined up before these 2 meet, With Joshua its been mainly talk of Miller (in the USA) or Povetkin and Wilders name is getting linked with Dom Breazeale. Also alot of mentions of Wembley being the only place Joshua and Hearn want for the Wilder fight and any time through summer is a no go for that venue due to its commitments to other things, it only becomes available later in the year. So the chances Wilder and AJ having other fights in summer is quite high and to be honest Povetkin is no bum fight and ive wanted Wilder Breazeale ever since the trouble between them. Bring it on i say, and if they scrap them fights in favour of the big 1, all the better.
So mandatory, then unification.. exactly what boxing fans want to see. Rewind one year ago and of course everyone wanted the same thing - Joshua obliged. Takam was the mando after Pulev's injury, then the Parker unification. You could argue he did the same thing before with Breazeale and Klitschko - fulfilled his IBF obligations, then had a unification fight. You can also be damn sure Joshua will make the T Fury fight as soon as it's viable. Guys on here could personally handpick Joshua's fights and still find reason to slate him afterwards..
Haven't seen anyone apart from Wlad, keep Joshua on the defence. Povetkin's gonna have to be prepared to absorb alot of punishment if he wants to take him out. Fighting like that against the bodybuilder is suicide, he preys on aggressive fighters. I predict Alexander gets dropped, and finished off this time.
The one good thing about povetkin tho is he,ll at least try to fight on the front foot. Will most likely end in a quicker demise for him but its a style that could cause Joshua problems. Opponents go on about Joshua's stamina then allow him to fight on the front foot and let him control the pace of the fight. Povetkin doesn't really take too many backwards steps. Decent tank. Height and reach a massive disadvantage tho. Can see him getting a beating but at least you can see a way for him to win unlike a lot of them. A better fight than pulev or miller for me. Might not last as long but povetkin will at least come to win.
So basically your post allows you to **** on joshua and then at the same time cover your own ass and give some nice excuses if joshua wins. What A *****
