Reposting : The main problem is everyone thinks mike Tyson is going to be strolling along again or /and that guys under 220 will have that K.O power. the best boxer who didn't or wasn't known to have a punch was Byrd in recent times and how many times would he defeat a SHW? I thought Golota beat him too and Ike took his head off.

This is long overdo . The HW boxing criteria and standard is far out dated where HW 's on avg are 240 . The starting point should be about 227 and over . This will create a actual relevant weight class bc no one really fight below 220 at HW ,this is common sense . People have to understand its not 1940's anymore and the goal posts have moved.

Nothings deluting bc you always go by weight no matter what. Those stating it will ruin history are grasping for straws they are just readjusting a class that needs it,this doesnt effect what past champs have done, its just nostalgists grasping at nothing bc well lets face it most guys near 200 pounds would lose today that's just a fact.you cannot base a weight class ona one or two guys thats not reality, wilder is about 220/230 but hes also 6'7 right? Well......lol

The nostalgists are protecting empty falsehoods that you can be 200 pounds and still fight at HW today.this is clearly false or everyone would be fighting at 210 and you would see an abundance of 215 pounders and not 240 ones. People have to realize when comparing old time champs you just configuring the weight, like you would do anyway in a hypothetical match up....this is what they are really afraid of.Boxing has to advance and grow, lets not dumb down the sport.

If one holds a belt at HW,they and only then should be allowed to opt a fight at SHW. This would eliminate those crying that its unfair to smaller fighter/or lighter ones.

Guys like Rivas, Parker, Hughie Fury has to be in heavyweight division because they have little chance against taller more heavier guys. It's hard to fight against the facts of life.

This one is the best idea of all. Doesn't make sense of making 230+ lbs division for a super HW , tell me how many people are going to be in there with more than decent skills? Everyone is talking about the super heavyweights but actually if you take a closer look how many of them were successful? Joshua, Fury, and the Klitschko brothers. Can't say huge guys like Ustinov or Wach had awesome careers because of their size... yes it is and advantage but Mike Tyson proved it and many other shorter fighters showed how the "giants" can be hurt , it's just the lack of talent these days not the weight of the division.

Byrd was a two time heavyweight champion and was always willing to fight anyone in the division. I would argue that Byrd in his prime would beat a lot of giant heavyweights, since most big guys struggled to cut the ring off on Byrd. Byrd was very tricky and could make big guys punch themselves out if they weren't careful. Vitali learned this the hard way. Ike and Wlad managed to limit Byrd's movement and beat him, which isn't an easy thing to do, but Wlad and Ike would do the same to most giant heavyweights. Pulev's height and weight didn't seem to help him much against Wlad. Chris Byrd in his prime would easily be in the top 5 in the current heavyweight division.

In the Golota fight both Byrd and Golota were way past their best.
