WBU title in The Fighter

I was worried that they were going to make it out to be a legit title, they even had the WBU Logos on gloves and shorts ect but I was please with the fact that they didn't actually refer to it as a "World title" just said "You got a title shot".

Pretty pleased they didn't give it credibility which could even lead to the WBU making a comeback, it's also good that they kept the story line realistic.

i watched it last night and was a bit put off by how they were giving the WBU title so much credibility in calling it a world title. i didn't realise that his story ended there though and they weren't going to cover the real pinnacle of his career. all made sense when the film credits came up, poetic license i believe it is called.

 

You might be on to something there.

 

The start is a giveaway "BASED on a true story...", as soon as Hollywood say that you know some liberties are going to be taken with the story.

 

Seeing it next week looking forward to it. Is it right they embelished Wards record?

 

Yep, but watch it as a film with a boxing theme/ backdrop rather than a film ABOUT boxing and I think you'll enjoy it.
