I think the idea by the IBF to have a second weigh in on the day of the fight was a good one. I think it's the best way to get fighters as healthy as possible but within a reasonable limit. If a boxer is fighting for an IBF title, he can't starve himself but he can't fighter three divisions higher either. It's something I'd like to see all sanctioning bodies copy.

On a side note, Donaire was mentioned earlier. What does he weigh on fight night?

For the Montiel fight, Donaire rehydrated 8 pounds while Montiel added 17.

I think the only way to do it would be to have the weigh-in 24 hours before and do a body hydration test to make sure the weight has not been lost through fluids. The could be accepted perameters that boxers have to stick to.

    I asked him.

He doesn't have the info at hand. Its in a file and he said:

"all but one of the men who have suffered a serious head injury since 1986 were in fights where making weight was a factor"

    Let's not be selective!

Against Narvaez he bragged about dehydrating past 130. So we're talking closer to a stone!

I remember Ingle-Botile, I remember talk about him suffering from a cold/flu in lead up to fight. Recently i saw a post on the matter maybe a year back and someone said he was on drink a fair bit before that fight.

What i never understand is fact Spencer Oliver was saved by the great advice of his cutman who learned about dealing with a situation like that. Yet they never used the procedure of that was used on Oliver for Ingle.

I didn't know that. I haven't got an agenda when it comes to Donaire, I just remembered that there were figures out there for the Montiel fight.

    :good Of course.

It was on the scene. After the weigh-in Nonito wassaying summat like 'a is going well, we're 130lbs already and will be 135 by the fight' or whatnot.
