Usyk gets plenty of praise on this forum for his achievements and H2H ability the issue becomes when people are claiming he's a top 10 greatest fighter of all time or he's the GOAT which you see alot on the general forum and that's seriously overrating him. Your ranking of Usyk is fair and reasonable.
Ring magazine ratings aren't ratings. They are the opinion of a publisher. And now you have changed the bar...twice. Not only in specifying the fake rating that you will accept, but because no one is saying that Fury compares to Ali...only Joe Louis does. I am saying that is is a good win or two away from being recognized as a great, and he is.
I dont think much at all about Wilder or AJ ,, but I will say Usyk can fight and what he has accomplished is more than any fighter up in that weight has done since Holyfield ,, so on that note If Usyk played it clean ,, yes he is greater p4p thatn Holy
Lewis yes. Bowe was garbage outside the first Holyfield win. Bowe is almost exactly on their level, and that was because of one very high quality win.
Agreed .. Who did Lewis beat giving up weight agianst ? Grant maybe, a couple more,, he almost always had the advantages. Cant deny the weight Usyk gave up against Fury.. And Fury is a h2h nightmare vs basically anyone in boxing history ,, yes same as Lewis .. BUT again Usyk gave up that weight ... for me Joshua and Bowe are basically flash in the pans ,, where Usyk would have to be on the level historically as Lewis on a p4p basis .. no?
Simple common sense tells us that only 3 or 4 Fury opponents have a good case for being top 10. An objective look at their careers bears this out. Wallin and Johnson were pretty clearly not top 10 heavyweights based on how their careers played out
I haven't changed anything my original point has always been exactly the same. Ask any respected posters here with far more knowledge than me like @Greg Price99 when they're gauging how many top 10 ranked fighters a fighter has beaten when assessing their resume Ring Magazine is always used for reference. I showed you the ratings which show the fighters were not ranked in the top 10 when Fury fought them and it's the best source of information because its normally a good gauge who the best fighters were of that era. I'm not changing the goal posts.....look at any Heavyweight in history who's considered a great or an ATG and Fury’s resume pales in comparison to them. And trying big up names like Chisora x3, Wallin, Cunningham, Pianeta, Is absolutely laughable out of that list Chisora is the only one who would be considered a top 20 fringe contender of that era. I don't always agree with @Cojimar 1946 but he's got it spot on common sense tells us realistically only Wilder, Wladimir, Whyte, were top 10 Heavyweights of that time when Fury fought them and neither of the other Heavyweights Fury fought have a case for being top 10 Heavyweights. And if you're talking about era's then possibly Whyte could be outside the top 10 now with hindsight.
Agreed DP, I don't consider Ring rankings infallible, but in general, throughout history they're a better representation of the 10 best/most deserving contenders than any of the alphabet bodies. I suspect when the number of ranked contenders beaten is being discussed as a guide to the quality of fighters win resume, there's an understanding between the vast majority of posters in the classic section that it is contenders as defined by Ring that are being cited.
He’d be in that top 100, which is a big achievement. He wouldn’t make my personal best fighters I’ve seen though, he doesn’t have the knockouts or dominance of the true greats.
Than he will be the most meaning and pointless undisputed in history , with a legacy of total 5 opponents in hw ...
Dubois got the belt from Usyk vacating basically gifted a freebie. Dubois has had some solid wins recently which means he's atleast proven he's championship level. But he never actually won the belt from a title holder so Usyk beating Dubois again for a belt he already vacated doesn't mean a whole lot to me if I'm being honest.
Ring magazine isn't always used for reference, because it is a magazine, and its ratings aren't always all that great either. Fury beat at least 8 ranked opponents. That is reality. Wallin, Chisora and Cunningham are solid guys. Pianeta is not one of the guys I am citing as ranked.
