He fell out with Houllier before that mistake and that was the nail in the coffin. Kirkland came to the club at the same time but Westerveld was replaced as first choice by Dudek (who was a better goalie).

Ah right..... if Dudek was better it's not a biggie then.

Kirkland was a shocking signing in hindsight, £6m wasn't it?

I don't think any of the young goalies that were promising around that time ever fulfilled their potential.

Robinson looked a world beater at Leeds when he filled in for Martyn.... he's average now, Kirkland average, Carson won't ever recover.

We had Carson as well. Anfield has been a bit of a graveyard for promising English goalkeepers!!

Probably one of the worse was watching Mayweather v Hatton. A few lad's i know (who are normally quite knowledgeable when it come's to boxing, all amateur fighters) were claiming Ricky was gonna' stop Floyd "with a body shot", but i think the whole being English and being patriotic clouded their vision.

I've also had people claim Calzaghe would of beaten Ali, Amir Khan would beat Mayweather and the Klitschko's are running away from Haye

    Was he?

I've never really watched that many Liverpool games..... must have had his better games when I was watching.

    Always looked good to me.

I definitely didn't put a tenner on Hatton to stop him in rounds 7-9, thinking it would be a body shot

Some Jock in Thailand tried telling me Calzaghe was the greatest British boxer of all time. I told him Scotland had two better fighters than Calzaghe (Lynch, Buchanan) and he ended up trying to punch my face in :rofl

I then tried telling him about my iron chin, which didn't calm him down......my mates then had to wade in, and being 6+ that calmed him down :rofl

He said he'd 'never heard of 'em' when I brought up Benny and Kenny, and I said 'that says more about your knowledge than it does mine'.

Anyway, I never got whacked, so, was a good night in all......
