Prograis definitely looked so-so in this last fight. There was tremendous hype behind him a few years ago before he lost to Taylor. I always felt he didn't get the recognition he deserved after losing a close decision to Taylor on a rather lackluster performance. But after watching him last night I'm beginning to wonder. Is the hype legit? He was not impressive last night. He seemed undersized and was hit fairly easily. I'll tell you one thing, I would not be putting any money on him. Too much uncertainty.
Dude, everyone with a mild boxing knowledge respects Zepeda. I DGAF what he did or didnt win. Everyone knows hes been an elite 135/140lbs'er for about a decade. He has 3 losses. 1 to Flanagan in a world title fight where he discloated his shoulder in the first round. 1 to Ramirez in a world title fight, where he arguably won. The only clear loss he has in 40 fights is Prograis.
ive always said he was just good, and not great, BECAUSE i saw his previous fights. its just now that more people are starting to agree. happens to me all the time.
Prograis to very strong physical. Devon might be a little suspect in that area, he can be roughed up.
A fact that you stated to try to prove some point about Zepedas ability. The fact that he hasnt won a belt doesnt mean it wasnt a highly impressive performance by Prograis in defeating him
No one at 140 was so good. There hasnt been a special talent at 140 since Crawford and now there finally is again with Teofimo Lopez
Josh Taylor was undisputed in a weak division with several close fights. Same as Jermell Charlo. Good but not great fighters. Great undisputed fighters are Crawford, Inoue, Canelo, Usyk. Haney, Charlo, Taylor are not.
What are people missing with Prograis? He's fast and has good power and for those who don't bother to study the more technical aspects of boxing that's enough to rate a fighter above their actual true level. It's why people rated Amir Khan it's why people picked Garcia over Tank. People mistake athleticism for boxing skill. Prograis has holes in his game. If you haven't even learned to counter punch then I question your skill level and Prograis doesn't counter punch he just relies on his speed to get off first and his power to bail him out if he's being out boxed. He's one of the better fighters at 140 but the division as others have said is a wasteland which is why he and Taylor got so over rated and why Teo was able to move up and take over and dethrone Taylor with such ease. People said Taylor was shot or faded vs Teo but what do they say know when his best win now is looking vulnerable too? Is Prograis now shot or faded too? Or were these supposed top guys at 140 just never that good.
