    1. His retirement. I'd say that's a huge weakness. Hard to win rounds when you quit the sport.

    2. Getting KO'd in clubs by sparring partners.

    3. Phobias of Margarito and Williams.

    4. Ability to fight guys in their primes at their natural weight classes.

lacking combinations isn't a weakness because you cannot use the fact that Floyd doesnt throw in combinations as a strategy to beat Floyd... if Floyd wanted to come back and fight someone ... he could go into the fight throwing 4-5 punch combo's if he chose...

the fact that he stays away from throwing combo's very often serves a purpose in his fighting style

No worries, I don't mind debating as your just looking for an explanation, it's when people come on and put laughing smilies yet give no contribution of their own.

In terms of him lacking combinations, it's a choice certainly but it's due to his brittle hands I feel, he's said many times that he feels his body is breaking down and he has constant treatment on his hands to try and give more support to the muscle etc. His lacking combinations means he's not landing as much and doesn't look as impressive to the judges, and therefore he's pot-shotting and landing mainly just single punches, which doesn't look as impressive to the judges and also his opponents are having to deal with less so they are less likely to be hurt or stunned.

His body breaking down could lead to a number of things, decrease in speed, lowly resistance to punches especially to the body, and more importantly decreased mobility and reflexes, which he relies on as part of his defensive technique, along with RJJ so you could see a similar sort of pattern emerging, and already can to an extent as Floyd was getting caught with shots that he wouldn't of in or around his prime.

His brittle hands lead to his pot-shotting and lack of combinations, and also he can't sit down on his punches as much as there's more chance of him hurting or breaking them, and he doesn't want to have to fight one-handed.

The DLH fight as I said he struggled with Oscar's jab, I'm not saying any old fighter can keep jabbing at him for 12 rounds and win, it mades to be a very good jab and Oscar has an excellent one, sharp, crisp and accurate and he troubles Floyd with it for the first 7 rounds, before he blew out and abandoned it.

Effective pressuring can be seen in the Castillo fight, where he was in or around his prime. Again I'm not saying constant pressuring will work, as already said Hatton pressured him more than Castillo, but he moved forward in straight lines and lacked the necessarily movement and defensive guard to be able to close the gap on Floyd, which is why PBF could just pot shot him at will and keep him at bay. Castillo moved inside well and attempted to muscle up on Floyd, cutting off the ring and getting him against the ropes and working to the body, which is where I get to my assumption that when he gets on the inside it's not that he lacks the offensive arsenal or speed or accuracy to compete on the inside, but he lacks the physical strenght and crudeness of other fighters that can muscle up on him and get to him with an effective body attack, which is why you mainly see him on the outside and he uses his elbow to prevent opponents getting inside and also moves around the ring alot.

What I mean by effective pressure is cutting off the ring, unloading at the right time and using a good defensive guard and movement to close the gap on the opponents and work them on the inside.

For example, the Castillo fight was effective pressuring, because he moved in well and closed the gap and cut the ring off, he attacked Floyd at the right time in the right places, mainly the body.

Hatton didn't pressure him effectively, because he lacked movement, moving forward in straight lines, and abandoned his defensive guard so Floyd could pick him off as Hatton was exposed defensively. He also didn't pick his shots at the right time when Floyd was perhaps exposed in areas.

but im saying... and not to argue
not throwing enough punches isnt a weakness
its never hurt him in a fight so it cant be a weakness
he could change it if he wanted so its not a weakness

a defensive stance could be a weakness
vulnerability to a type of punch can be a weakness
    height could be a weakness
    short arms maybe...

floyd doesnt throw a lot of punches because he doesnt want to... if he wanted to he could so

    2. powerlessness revealed by an inability to act; "in spite of their weakness the group remains active" [syn: helplessness]

    as taken from dictionary.com

INABILITY... meaning something you cant change.... punch volume could be changed by a simple decision.. the fact that he has a weak chin (hypothetically speaking) cannot be

Floyd could throw more combinations, however his brittle hands mean the more he lands the more chance he has off hurting his hands, so he looks to land the shots that matter inside of throwing endless punches that are going to land on arms and elbows etc that won't count but will still have an impact on his damaged hands.

It could be a weakness because judges will probably take combinations into account as it looks more impressive, see Leonard-Hagler for example, Hagler probably the more effective and landed probably the better shots but Leonard more eye catching with blistering combinations which is why he got the decision. It means he could easy by outworked by a busier fighter such as the man in your avatar for example (though I don't think Williams would beat Floyd, just saying he COULD be outworked)

    TommyVercettiX, phaion...

i can get with yall on the whole jab thing.. but the weak hands thing isnt a weakness

well maybe i made a mistake in my wording... in my original post

if your talking to your fighter you woudlnt say something..

ok just let him beat the **** out of you so his hands will break and then you can just go for the kill...

    you know what im saying?

im looking for *****s in his armor, flaws as a fighter...

and im still a little hazy on the effective pressure can one of you two provide a youtube video or soemthing... i mean i kind of get it but a example would definitely help

    edit:
lmao @ the word chi-nks being not allowed.... not trying to be racist

your right... im just looking for existing flaws really...
like hes undefeated so obviously the fact that he doesnt throw enough punches has never hurt him...

maybe you can take something from that castillo fight about the applied pressure, or a certain type of punch that fighters hit him with time and time again..

    i hope im making sense

It's not a case off saying 'let him hit you till his hands break', but if his hands are damaged, he's throwing less. If he's throwing less punches, the other fight has less to deal with, so is more capable of avoiding them or walking through them as there's less being thrown. As a Paul Williams fan I assume by your avatar, you should understand this as he uses his workrate and high punch volume to his advantage, such as in the Quintana fight where he was overwhelmed by the amount of punches being thrown.

What I'm saying is there's less chance of being able to stop a guy on accumalation TKO, and more chance of the other guy avoiding the punches or walking through them because there are less of them and also they are less powerful as he isn't sitting down on his punches as much.

If you want to see what I mean by effective pressuring, you could watch Floyd's fight with Castillo and Hatton, which I used as examples. Youtube quality isn't great though but it should do.

hahaha not to sound like a ***** or anything hahaha

but still not what i was looking for... im stupid for not being more accurate when asking the question...

this would be a flaw/weakness if we were rating all of floyds attributes on a 1-10 scale.... But i mean if you were creating a manuscript on how to defeat Floyd...

hahaha dont kill me but you know what im saying haha?

Less combinations, size difference, physical power over bigger opponents.

haha once again i dont want to sound like a ***** because im just trying to understand ... but theres no garuntee his hands are going to be delicate....

we have all heard him say it and stuff.. but maybe on that particular day of the fight his hands happen to be fine..

how about some other fights besides castillo & floyd 1 where this effective pressure thing is displayed.... i wanna see it because for a while i was confused on the whole idea..

like who in modern day boxing (with example/since 1998 ) uses effective pressuring to their advantage

You use Castillo 1 as Floyds end all weakness. We saw what happened when Floyd wasen't injured in the rematch and how he can handle pressure.

Tell me why we've never seen it again by anyone. That's right.. because Flyod 100% can handle pressure.
