As of now. Not all are directly favored, but all have good chances and most actually are favored. There are probably other stylistic dilemmas for him at WW as well:

    Hector Camacho
    Azumah Nelson
    Julio Cesar Chavez
    Henry Armstrong
    Pernell Whitaker
    Roberto Duran
    Carlos Ortiz
    Ismael Laguna
    Beau Jack
    Aaron Pryor
    Duilio Loi
    Shane Mosley
    Oscar De La Hoya
    Ike Quartey
    Thomas Hearns
    Ray Leonard
    Ray Robinson
    Emile Griffith
    Jose Napoles
    Kid Gavilan
    Luis Manuel Rodriguez
    Carmen Basilio
    Wilfred Benitez
    Miguel Cotto
    Meldrick Taylor
    Donald Curry
    Marlon Starling
    Felix Trinidad
    Vernon Forrest
    Mickey Walker
    Charley Burley

Good list, and I'm sure if I put thought into each match-up I would agree with at least 3 quarters of it.

    In general?

Resume. Ambition. Desire. Fearlessness. Fighting spirit and fighters heart.

    At welterweight?

    Punch power and courage.

i dont care about all time.. im not saying floyd is the best ever ... period..

im just saying hes a fantastic talent...

and would like to know his weaknesses because no fighter is perfect ..

right now i think floyd has no glaring weaknesses.. im basically asking someone to prove me wrong because i nkow what i think probably isnt 100% correct

The perfect indictment of Floyd Mayweather Jr. Talent that could've been put to use in big fights has gone to waste at an age and with a resume both too fledgling to retire.

And sorry but you've been proven wrong a number of times. I'm not putting you down or anything but considering you don't understand effective pressuring and sound like you haven't yet seen half of Floyd's fights I don't think you are in much of a position to argue that he has no weaknesses.

I gave you the style that would beat him now, and Cotto's the only one in my book that can pull it off at the moment.

Off the bat, which do you disagree with? There are a few on there that even I don't outright favor over Floyd and think he has a good chance of winning, but they're all fighters I feel are capable of beating him.

fair enough... once again im not trying to dick ryde..

i havent seen pernell or pep fights just high light reels... so any educating i could get would be good...

but were these 2 as smart as floyd?

and i think if pw fought floyd... and just completely selling himself out by being the agressor and staying away from pressuring floyd... just completely trying to out box him i think hed have a decent chance..

i dont feel like quintana provided the blue print either because the first fight pw came out like **** and he proved it in the 2nd fight

Not sure how much footage there is of Pep, but I would recommend you look to watch some Sweet Pea fights.

I rate Pernell as a better fighter than Floyd. Pernell is easilly top 20 of all time, probably top 15. Floyd is top 35 for me.

There are a number of guys who could beat Floyd above 140 pounds (i.e. 147 and above). The fact that Floyd could also beat most of these guys and without a doubt hold his own, is a testament to FLOYD, not the other guys... Floyd is NOT a 147 pounder. I'd call him an athletic natural 130 pounder who because of his athleticism, was able to move up. He coulda made 140 every fight EASILLY since he left that division, although he still fought as high as 150 (against a 154 pounder)... Yet most of the time when you hear about guys who could, or to some people, WOULD beat Floyd - usually their 147 pounders or even heavier.

There's very few fighters who I would tip over him from 130-140. There's a SMALL few, but very little. And even these wouldn't be certainties.

yeah maybe the fact that floyd hasnt faced some of the more talented fighters at the time never gave us an opprotunity to see some of his most glaring weaknessess

fair enough... like i said i dont exactly get the effective pressure thing... i still want someone to shed some light on it.

but ive seen a lot of floyd fights today and over time

    hatton-oscar-zab-baldomir-gatti-sharmba i saw on tv

today and @ other times i youtubed

    burseles-corely- parts of castillp pt 1- chavez-chico-agustus-ginaro & apodaca...

i mean ive seen a fair amount of his fights..

maybe i shouldnt say he has NO WEAKNESSES.. thats obviously impossible

but hes a very very very skilled fighter... we should all be able to agree to that...

im still trying to figure out what his most glaring weakness and most realistic gameplan on how to beat him..

i guess most opt that it is effective pressure... i personally dont think so... floyd is the least effective when he has to box in the center of the ring and at a slow pace maybe im tripping though

    * shurgs shoulders*

i just looked @ pernells record...

how about when pernell lost to oscar..

could that fight possibly provide some sort of information on how to defeat the ultimate defensive fighter?

Watch Julio Cesar Chavez's fight with Edwin Rosario if it's still up on Youtube.

If not, watch a modern day guy like Cotto, or some of Chavez in the late 80's or early 90's(pre-Whitaker).

There are also many different kinds of pressure, and many different ways to box behind it. But for now, those are two examples of fighters who could use educated pressure to win.

By that I mean they are technical and tight with their stance, guard, punches, footwork to better cut off the ring with, etc. A sloppy, open guy like Hatton doesn't work, as he simply leaves himself open for too many counters when punching. Most fighters problem these days is footwork though. If you wanna see great footwork watch Jose Napoles. There is a decent amount of footage of his fight with Curtis Cokes up on youtube, give that a whirl. Watch how balanced and smooth his footwork is, how he is always within punching range, etc. He'd apply a more subtle pressure on Floyd and back it with his superior offensive attack.

But, as you said, you'd like to stick to modern fighters, so stick with Cotto and someone like Quartey(who'd pressure him behind the jab and tight guard and outmuscle him).
