What are Petersons chances against Khan tonight?

so you just never know, and peterson's gonna be in front of a big home crowd, with his family and friends all watching, it could just bring out a different fighter.

 

I think it's a close fight. Peterson has fought Ortiz and Bradley, he knows what this level is about.

He's rangy, has decent fundamentals and decent power to boot. Against someone who tends to leap in and flurry such as Khan, that might be useful.

My pick is Khan to outwork Peterson throughout but with the constant threat of taking a few bumps along the way.

 

I think Khan wins comfortably but Lamont makes him work his ass off for it, and gets in some decent, hard shots.

 

Peterson reminds me a lot a Vernon Forrest. Very solid all around, very ring smart, very proffessional. Even without the ridiculous 9:1 I'd put money on him to win this. One thing you have to take away when assessing this fight is how these guys have been handled and marketed through their careers. Aside from the Maidanna fight, Khan's been matched with guys to make him look good, and guys with some name power to them. He's been given the best of preperation as well before his fights. I believe he's a great talent, but he's also alot of hype as well. Salita, Mallinagi, McCloskey, and an old shot Judah does not justify 9:1 odds.

I expect Khan to start fast and outbox Lamont, but for Lamont to get a feel for Khan and start to take control and stop him late. The one thing that really concerns me is the ref making an early stoppage. There's been a string of early BS stoppages this year in favor on the big name fighters. Chavez, Alvarez, Cotto at the top of the list. I could see GB wanting to make sure their meal ticket is protected, so I hope Peterson and Hunter are aware of that possibility.

Peterson is a rugged dude. I see his chances at better than 10%. Kind of hard to pit a number on it, but i'd have to say 25.78%.

In the end, i think Khan's speed advantage will be too much though.

 

Khan still has a glass jaw so u never know.

Amir by early stoppage. He is overrated, so they aren't going to put him in with anyone who can beat him until its time to feed him to Floyd.

 

His best chance is to somehow make it to the final bell and let the hometown judges do the rest.

 

Lamont is a notoriously slow starter and is haplessly willing to walk through shots to get inside on the body. Chances are possible that Amir is able to drop Peterson once, and a GBP ref calls a premature stoppage for the sake of sparing Khan a fight.:-(
