I read the thread about the worldwide trainers and found it very interesting. I must admit I don't really know what our trainers are good at specifically. If anyone can school me on what they're all about I'd be grateful :good
I wouldn't say that our trainers have any qualities that you can pin to all. Most are there own men and have there own beliefs and values.
I've always always liked James Degales trainer...!!! Especially when he was working with Danny Williams. I liked the way, he is a boxing coach...! but also, looks very deeply into conditioning side of things. When he had Danny Williams, pushing cars...and carrying ****ing car frames. That **** was bad ass. NOTE: I'm setting myself, up in this post for somebody to quote me and make a joke about Danny Williams..............**** off you NO MARKS!!!!
Not much. Boxing has alot of shite in it. Very few guys putting in the studying hours and then passing good info on. Trainers like Roach and Steward shouldn't be considered amazing. Look at MMA for the studying of technique and spread of knowledge.
This was the thread I meant http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=263288 I know Jim McDonnel is a good conditioning coach...
Odd question, not sure I understand it. What are the American coaches good at? Every individual person has their own theories and knowledge.
Presumably - teaching the 'European style'? Incidentally, can someone explain to me what exactly is meant by the 'European style' as opposed to the 'American style' of boxing. I hear it mentioned now and again and wonder what exactly it means?:think
I think they're referring to the Kotelnik's. Stiff at the waist, mainly 1-2 reliant, not much lateral movement, conventional guard. To be fair there are a ton of guys like that but they mostly come out of the Eastern countries. They obviously have far greater trends in their coaching than the British.
