What chances would you give Ward in HW?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by iWantToLearnEng, Feb 26, 2013.

  1. If he decides, to change into the HW within 3 years of bulking, would he be good like Adamek or shot like RJJ?

Rumors say, he dont see his future in SMW.

He'd likely get destroyed by any B+ level fighter as he's not going to be anywhere near as elusive as RJJ was. He doesn't seem to have great punch resistance as it is (decent, but not great!) and the bigger guys at HW will be able to punch through his guard.

Hes nowhere near as big as Adamek.

Adamek was clearly killing himself to make 175 by the end,and Ward is comfortably making 168.

Maybe in 5-6 years,he may have changed, but right now, he'd get killed.

He doesn’t appear to be blessed with the athletic gifts to move up so drastically in weight. I should think light heavyweight or cruiserweight (if he’s lucky) would be the furthest he would go. Also despite having a lot of tools in his box I don’t think his style would translate well against bigger heavier fighters.

I wouldn't give him much of a chance to be honest...but that's based on what I see at this time. Things could chance as he fills out, progresses and moves up in weight.

He can go as high as cruiser.

Roy was a physical phenom, ward is not.

I'd say 175 is his max. He looks pretty full at 168 and 175 would be the perfect full size. If he goes to 200, then he'll get blown out by huge guys coming in at 210+ on fight night!

None, his style relies a lot on mauling inside

hes not doing that to heavyweights
