A definition of a bum would be all the WUM/Troll forum members that use the word " bum " more than the word " the ". Calling every other boxer a bum is a show of such disrespect for participants of a sport where the worst case scenario is someone ending up dead.....
M Spinks. Malik Scott Jean Marc Mormeck David Haye Audley Harrison Daniel Geale Darren Barker Edwin Rodriguez Bernard Hopkins
All solid B level or above fighters who simply resigned to lose rather than get put to sleep or sustain career altering beatings.
Well I wouldn't label them career bums. To dive a little deeper into "someone who's not here to win", I'd say maybe someone who signs to fight knowing they will lose and don't bother to put much effort into making a difference. They're just collecting a check and they know this beforehand.
But I mean after watching the Lewis fight would you call him a "Bum"? he clearly stated he wasn't fighting against Lewis to win but was fighting for the money.
See that's an interesting perspective. I think someone can be a champion for 15 years, then on the 16th year they become a bum because they no longer have the desire to win, they go in fully expecting to lose. I'd use Zab Judah as an example, he was a good fighter but then look at him in the Paulie fight. He fought like a bum and didn't even try to win.
I think a journeyman is someone who's just not good enough to compete at a high level. They have the desire to win but not the skill. I looked at wikipedia and it describes it pretty well IMO.
I had just looked it up too haha. But in terms of calling a fighter a bum,If a fighter doesn't try and expects to lose against a A level opponent but still beats solid B level opposition, I can't see them being a bum.
Its a term widely used on boxing forums by keyboard warriors on boxing forums who have never been inside a boxing gym let alone a boxing ring Everyone that has the courage to step inside a boxing ring and put their life on the line deserves respect
