According to a lot of people on here, if a fighter loses, he is shot.

If he is not "shot" then he is "exposed".

I tend to think that if a fighter loses, he just lost. No need to attach a label to it, unless it is blatantly obvious that the guy is so far past his best that he needs to be retired of fighting fringe contenders.

When a fighter can't perform at least 60% of what he used to be . . . for me he is shot.

I think once the legs are gone is when a fighter is finished. Morales is a perfect example of it. His balance was terrible in his last fights. Its sad to see.

The problem is, too much emphasis is being put on a fighter losing ONE fight and suddenly calling that fighter shot or past prime. I find that extremely ridiculous because its IMPOSSIBLE to judge whether a fighter is shot based on a single fight. A 36 minute fight will not tell you how shot or past it someone is. That time is too short for ANYONE to sit there and confidently and accurately say "this guy is shot!". That's impossible. But its sad because that kind of mentality is already ingrained so much in peoples' minds that you really can't do anything about it now.

At this day and age, you rarely see someone saying "he lost to a better man". You don't often see none of that anymore. Its always "Oh he's shot", and all other excuses that mankind can think of just so their fighter won't lose face.

When I judge someone whether he's shot or not, I never judge them in just one fight. I judge them over the course of a few fights and have my conclusions base on that. If an elite fighter keeps losing to lesser opposition, then I can say he's shot. Otherwise, if a fighter still keeps winning after a loss(especially if they captured a belt), then I can't really come to the conclusion that he's shot.

Not being able to pull the trigger is the first real proper sign of a truly shot fighter, when the timming goes thats when a fighter is in trouble.Ive noticed over the years and i guess this is natural enough most fighter lose their self confidence along with their timming, for some reason they start to throw looping shots when they would once had thrown straight compact correct shots,i don't know why they do but they do.Ive seen fighters, rare ones that even though shot have pulled off some big wins through sheer will power and grit, however this is rare and usually goes on to prove costly to their long time health.
