Come to think of it, it isn't in the realm of impossible, there is a mount escape that puts you in position to grab an ankle, but it requires a bit more flexability in the hips then I think James can conjure up.
Dean Lister is one of the best leg lock experts in the world, there is a better chance of him KO'ing Toney in boxing than Toney footlocking him. What happened is crystal clear, they were going through drills (not sparring), Dean passed his guard (obviously), Lister was wanting Toney to work on his escapes from mount, and instead of following his teaching, Toney grabbed for a foot, which might have hurt, but is never going to submit Dean ****ing Lister. It would be like Lister punching toney while Toney was holding pads for him.
I quoted exactly from the article, they were drilling on the ground, as in not live sparring, Lister passed to mount, Toney ignored the point of the drill (escaping mount) and instead tried for a sub that doesn't really exist. He grabbed his foot, it kind of hurt, but it was not a real sub of any sort, it would never work in competition, and it shows that Toney was not putting in the right work.
It just goes to show that Toney simply doesn't get it when it comes to the ground work, I mean anyone who had any knowledge of the ground game wouldn't even contemplate trying to grab a foot, It's just a desperate move from a newby spazzing out. He tries that **** on Randy he's gonna eat some elbows.
Maybe.....either way Lister is a top grappler who has had A LOT of great things to say about Toney and his progression. For him to say he's impressed shouldn't be taken lightly. Toney if nothing else is putting in work for this fight so I'm excited to see what he does....even if he does lose at a sport he's never competed in. War Toney!:yep
That may be true....actually it is true but the key thing that everyone needs to look at is the fact James is getting some great positive feedback from those he's working with and he's working with some top guys. James isn't gonna be a BJ Penn or a Nick Diaz but he won't need to be to sleep Randy.
I wouldn't call admitting that his fighter is not training properly, but instead spazzing out and trying for subs that aren't there and he could never get if they were, instead of learning a mount escape or guard recovery very high praise.
It’s funny how you are trying to search hidden meaning in every quote. His compliments of Toney picking little things in his training, has changed in your mouth to Toney being unprofessional and not knowing what he is doing.
Eh.....Maybe not the way you choose to see things. But Dean doesn't hand out that kind of priase at all let alone a boxer who disrespects his sport any chance he gets. Dean obviously likes james and is impressed with his progression as a boxer making his was into MMA. Toney is gonna surprise a lot of folks in the MMA world but I don't think Dean is going to be one of them. He seems to think James is very capable and could pull out a win over Randy which says a lot considering this is clearly a fight where James is at a massive disadvantage. I hope James pulls off the upset but I know it's highly unlikely. But I do know Randy is not gonna have an easy nights work against someone like Toney no matter what kind of combat sport it is.
The bottom line is big nog couldn't sub Randy so I doubt toney will, if Toney should win it will from clipping Randy's 47 yr old chin stunning him and then finishing him. All this sub talk is a waste of time it won't happen anyhow. James is only doing this fight to get his name back out there so he can stay relivant in 1 way or another.
