Trained with Joe through the amateurs in the Rotunda and England and now train with him as a pro under Georgie Vaughan. The lad possesses so much natural talent it is untrue. He has a natural technique which seems effortless and carries power with either hand. Had a lot of hand problems in the past - hence the inactivity - but after a lot of time with a speciallist it looks like they are sorted. FINGERS CROSSED. If so the future is definitely bright. He fought Sam Webb the current British Champ in Sams last amateur fight in the ABA semi final. Sam said he had never been hit so hard. Selkirk demolished him. Will be good to see how far Joe goes, keep an eye out
He beat john fewkes in the ABA' close by one point' was brill as an ameture' his pedigree looks impresive.will watch out for him.:happy
Cheers for the info mate :good Really looking forward to seeing this lad soon, he sounds a great fighter to look out for. Any news on when your out next and who against? Definitely time for a decent step up for you I reckon, best of luck to ya!
If you are the champion of the WORLD @ AMA level , then you are a world class boxer , do you not understand this :huh:huh...................... To acheive that @ AMA level you have to be among the best fighters in the world in your weight class on an AMA level , then you go and slowly work your way up the pro ladder , but it still takes nothing away from the fact that you were the best fighter in the world in the unpaid ranks , NO ....... hence world class ......... atsch
Joe is an amazing talent!! With 2 healthy hands he'll be scary to watch!! He'd annihilate Sam Webb right now!! Was with Arnie for a couple of fights and is now with Georgie Vaughn.. On his day Joe is unreal!! A british ODLH but with more punch power!!:good
I am not going to get into an argument on Selkirk and Gavin who are not world class professional fighters but in time will hopefully develop into world class professional fighters, that is quite obvious to any one who know's boxing that pro with under 10 fights cannot be classed as world class, simple really.
