Join a gym, get in quite a bit of work, fight some amatuer fights, see if it's really something you want to do.

If the Charlie Zelenoff fight proved anything, it just reaffirmed that pro boxing is the real deal, even a tomato can like Hartley, who atleast has real experience getting punched in the face in the ring in front of a crowd can beat up someone off the street who doesn't know jack **** about what he's doing.

Also, I boxed a bit when I was younger, shoulda kept it up, but I tore my ACL playing football, was out for quite a bit, and never took it up again, but fighting for 3 mins against a live guy is a LOT harder than it looks, most guys of the street will be tired before round 2 ends.

Im about 5'10" 150lbs is my walk around weight.
Im thinking i could as low as 140 maybe 135. I mean i eat like a horse but never gain the weight. So dieting and working out should get me down there.
Im thinking i would have a significant reach advantage on most people at that weight and since i use my jab pretty much at all times that would come in handy. IM not the typical mexican fighter that brawls i like to jab alot and move around then use my straight right when i see openings. I also dont have the stereotypical mexican left hook. I think my left hook is slow and not very powerful but my jab is snappy and quick to get back. My straight right is my money punch also my right hook is pretty fast but prefer the straight right since it gets there a bit faster.

Like i said i want a hobby that pays.

yea illmatic you are right. 3000, but then remember the trainer has 2 et 10% of that. Cut men etc. so when you factor all of that in it might work out 2 b about the same

I know what you mean about getting tired.
I know its hard work and yes you do get tired right away. I dont think it will be easy and 4 rounds is perfect for a beginner. I couldnt imagine trying to go 12 rounds right off the bat.

i feel you, i box of and on now. Dont really have to much time b/c of schoolwork etc. But i would say take a lot of amateur fights 1st. If not for anything else the experience. So you can get in there with all kind of different styles. Be4 u decide to go pro.

it doesnt work that way. Promotors are eager to find kids like you to use as cannon fodder for guys who actually put real work into their amatuer and pro careers.

Well that would be great also because it would be good to get in with some guys that work hard. Im a very competitive person and always do best when challenged. I would love to be in the ring with a guy who has serious skills. I mean not as my first few fights but if its a good guy why not take on him. An ass beating only last a few days anyways but an experience like that would last forever. I mean im not saying i would just go in there knowing i would get beat up and just drop for him but losing to a good man. There is no shame in that. I love boxing. Everything about it. I have other plans for my life but one of my dreams is to have a few pro fights.

The Amateur root is the way to go ... to get experience against all different types of fighters. A few fighters have been successful with having limited amateur experience.

Julio Cesar Chavez Sr & Jr
    Paul Williams
    Mike Tyson
    Marco Antonio Barerra
    Eric Morales
