so after a fight, what do you guys usually say to your opponents corner/trainer? is it as simple as "good fight, thank you"? or do you say something like "add me on face book" or "follow me on twitter" :D ...really though id like to know because i plan on fighting amateur soon and dont want to sound disrespectful to any coaches. i imagine if you knock out his fighter you wouldn't say something like "awesome fight!"

I don't say anything. Just shake his hand.

Like znaak said, a handshake is usually what happens. I do often talk to my opponents after a fight, only one of them did not want to speak to me. Bit of a sore loser if you ask me, didn't even touch gloves. Raymond Joval coached a guy I boxed twice (won the first lost the second), he still owes me a picture he took of the both of us after the fight :D

    Can I have a return? :)

I was always sportsmanlike about it. The one awkward time I had was when I had lost a heavy stoppage to a strong banger, and he kept trying to pose for a picture (which his brother was taking) whilst shaking hands with me and being the 'honourable victor' (basically being a ****). I really wanted to smash his face in at the time (though had obviously failed to do so a few minutes before!) and was dizzy and half out of it. Never got a rematch because he stopped boxing to sort out family issues.

Literally usually just a handshake, opponents coach usually replied with "Good fight, well done."...or "Good fight, unlucky."

Although on two occasions, I had clearly won the fight (but didn't get the decision)...and my opponents coach told me there and then that I should have gotten the decision.

One time was when I was boxing on their show, completely dominated this lad. I did beat him in the ABA's a week later though.

The other time was in the Semi-Finals of the ABA's, gave the kid a standing 8 count, AND he had a point deducted (with me beating him in between all of this). He gets the decision, his coach tells me I should have won, and the crowd (his home crowd) start booing the decision. We all left early, 2 days later my coach turns up on my doorstep and tells me I got boxer of the night...:huh

So it's not ok just to shake the guys hand and say "Good fight" whether you win or lose? Why a thread on something so trivial?
