he lost his chance when he retired or should i say duck cotto and margarito when they were still hot.....

beating a shot and damaged cotto certainly wouldnt help....

    Not possible IMO

I would like to see him stay at 154lbs and fight the likes of Alvarez, Martinez and Lara.

He's missed to many important challenges in the past to really put himself in the mix for even top 20 of all time.

    He should have fought -
Mosley at Lightweight and again 3/4 years ago at Welter
    Tszyu at Light Welterweight
Cotto at Light welter or 3/4 years ago at Welter
Margarito 3/4 years ago at Welter
Paul Williams 3/4 years ago at Welter weight.
Pacquiao 1/2 years ago at Welter
Winky Wright after De La Hoya at 154lbs

Thing is I think he could have beaten them all.

Build a time machine, go back and kill 50 or so people.

Pretty much nothing he can do can give him that status. Let's be honest, Floyd has barley beat an ATG himself at least not in their prime.
And although I enjoy and respect his boxing skill's, Floyd is almost a sign of the times, only really caring about money and not his legacy.

Absolutely nothing he can do will have him above Robinson. That is the cold hard truth.

Doesn't matter he still ducked Margarito and a prime Cotto. Also avoided Tszyu.

No matter what this kid does certain critics won't give him the credit he deserves.

For some reason, beating "Pac" will make him the GOAT ... that is until if and when he beats him, then another excuse will come out. I mean I dont see how a guy with 2 draws, 3 losses (possibly 2 or 3,as the marquez' fights are always controversial) is the difference between Floyd being an all time great or just a great fighter for his era.

Truth be told, there is no GOAt if you ask me. I think realistcially, the most you can get is GOAT in a fighter's particular era, not GOAT period.

Different times to that of Robinson, leonard, hearns, duran, ali etc

Fighters today are motivated by money and undefeated records. It makes it a lot harder to become an ATG. Not impossible but to do it you need to take risks. Risks that cause losses. In todays world a loss or two on your record can set you back a long way because of the hype behind an unbeaten record. A loss can sometimes cause you to be put out of the way.

You have to remember that all of the greats fought so many big names and they all had losses on their records. Im not sure todays fans and media would react the same way. We are very quick to judge and as soon as they loose they suddenly become rubbish.
Marciano, Calzaghe and Mayweather, all unbeaten and all considered to be some of the best fighters but not top 10 really. All of them receive criticism for not having enough big names on their records.

Different times and different ways that the sport is run.

Greatest of all time??? WTF?!?!?!.. Floyd isn't even top 30. To be considered among the GOAT's u have to beat a few other ATG'S in their prime.. Floyd hasn't even beaten the best fighters of his generation.

Really, GOAT? Do some people ever think before they post. For Floyd to be the GOAT, he literally has to build a time machine and fight all the other greats in boxing history. Also, how on earth will he box people like Ali?

For me, he has already achieved an all time great status, up there with the best of boxing. He has been the best boxer for quite a few years too.
