    We'll see.

The last time I was this confident people were getting it wrong was when people were picking CEJ to do a number on Groves. It baffled me much like this does. When Joyce is power jabbed into oblivion and made to look like an ageing plodder then this thread is getting a bump and you can all buy me a virtual coke.

If Joyce turns out to be much better or Dubois that much worse than I think they are then revisit this thread for me to come eat my crow. I'll happily chow down on helpings from anyone who wants to serve any up.

You think Dubois will outbox Joyce over a long period of time? Idk. I think it's more likely that he catches Joyce with something clean early on than outboxing him down the stretch. a win either way wouldn't surprise me, I'm just not expecting much finesse regardless of which way it swings.

Joyce has nothing to stop Daniel ramming his jab down his throat for several rounds before Dubious starts branching out to other shots further unloading on him until securing a stoppage.

Joyce will be constantly reacting to what's happening rather than initiating the action IMO. He's tailor made to make Dubois look good.

    Agree.
Interesting how earlier most thought this was pretty much DDD. JJ had supporters but even they weren't all that confident.
Now support and predictions are moving Joe's way. Joe is slowwww, but he's a big powerful dude and seems like he can take a punch. While DDD has hardly been tested.

DDD has proved nothing yet, In this business you've got to show it, to believe it.

However, Joyce brings one fight style in to the ring, he hasn't changed at all with all the trainers he has had.

DDD should not have difficulties preparing for Joyce, The level DDD's at, combined with the will to beat his bully, should be sufficient to beat Joyce down and take his scalp in "devastating fashion".

Joyce needs to land heavy early and gain some respect, while avoiding the overhand right that he has a tendency to consume.

I agree with everyone who states DDD has proved nothing, he's never faced someone coming to hurt him, never really been clipped, never been put on the back foot by someone who'll keep coming for him all night.

But when I imagine that first bell ringing all I can see is Joyce's static head being pounded like an unwanted step child. I think DDD will stop him in 3 or 4 rounds.

Joyce is slow but he knows how to vary his speed, and sometimes just those minor variations in expected rhythm can throw fighters off. He can also be surprisingly hard to read when he has to be. His jab to the body is a very potent weapon and difficult to get away from given the way he mixes it up with his other weapons.

Dubois is faster of hand but he also fights to the same predictable rhythm it seems. Even a low level guy like Fujimoto was able to duck a number of his right hands before the overall physical pressure did him in. Joyce isn't going to be ducking anything, but he will be timing his shots in between Dubois's and trying to drive him backwards where I suspect Dubois will start to look a lot less effective.

Dubois is a bit of an unknown quantity for me though and I've got it wrong with him before, re: the Gorman fight. It's possible that he's a lot better than he's shown thus far. I'm quite interested to see the results whatever happens.

Frank Warren has a bad habit of letting his prospects fight bums for the first 10-15 fights and then instead of putting them in for the ebu belt and learning something he chuck’s them in at the deep end!

Yarde is a perfect example and Dubois will be too!

Reading all these comments, it seems that Joyce is pretty much written off in winning this fight...

Standing on Joyce's side for a moment,

The only way i see Joyce winning is by pulling off a "Povetkin" on DDD.

Joyce will need to dictate the fight, Step up on the front foot, prepared to move and throw 3,4,5 hard combination shots for 12 rounds... avoid being against the ropes and don't allow DDD to cut off the ring.

I believe that if Joyce could implement some of that Benavidez style for this fight, he'll probably win.

Exactly!!! Joyce is one of the slowest hand speed in boxers very powerful sledgehammer but speed beats him to the punch at times in fights. He's athletic but he can be lit up in combos. If Joyce gets his engine going DDD is in deep trouble.

There's rumors of Joyce Training at a UFC facility bopping head coaches is another strange potential factor. I never put weight on stuff like that.

I'll probably be rooting for Joe Joyce. I just think he's in a bad match up, it will be a lion fight though I'm excited!!!

Never did I say Joyce isn't slow. I'm just wondering how this folie aux deux started where the rest of you are in denial about Dubois being damn near just as slow.

Joyce's lack of speed is being overstated here. He's very lumbering and telegraphed with his shots, but he throws with such variety and consistency that even if you see one shot coming there's another coming after that and another after that, and you won't be able to evade them all or read from what angle or at what part of your body they're going to come in at. And all the while Joyce is bulling forward, forcing you to either make a stand (at which point the lack of speed becomes less of a hindrance for him) or be forced on the backfoot, which is physically and mentally wearying and makes it difficult to land effective shots of your own because you're not getting any breathing room to set your feet.

Joyce also has sneaky speed when he wants to. And like I mentioned above he's good at varying his rhythm. Dubois needs to be switched on or he might find himself eating a big shot that he isn't expecting, and from what I've seen of him his defence is sorely lacking.

Very good point. That being said(and I say this as a big Yarde critic) he's legitimate compared to Dubois. Dubois once he unravels will go on be remembered like A-Farce or Price - Yarde until he proves otherwise is still a solid domestic-Euro fringe world type. That big stuff idiot Dubois is going down and out VERY soon.
