Ward's done a lot more at 28 than Calzaghe had at that age. Give him time.

ward was given every decent fight at home on a plate...if Calzaghe was fighting in Newbridge against the same fighters are you telling me he wouldnt have demolished the lot.

    - Dirrell
    - Kessler rematch in Denmark to silence deluded critics
    - GGG
    - Martinez
    - JCCjr
    - Hopkins
    - Cleverly
    - Pascal
    - Bute
    - Pavlik

So there are a few names out there who could improve his resume and I think he should pursue these fights as I don't see any boxer on this list as a remote threat to him.

Just needs to be patient and continue to dominate the division. If in the next few years he can add Pavlik, Dirrell, maybes Froch or Kessler again and then possibly weight jumping Chavez Jnr and Golovkin before jumping to LHW and beating 2-3 guys like Cloud, Pascal, Shumenov or whoever is the top guys that would give him an excellent resume of top guys at the time and decent money making fights plus two weight titles.

Other than that he has to wait for other guys to establish themselves tbh. I'm sure he could do Cruiser as well at the far end of his career if he wants to add another weight.

It's irrelevant. At 28, Ward has beaten far better fighters than Calzaghe had at that age. When he reaches 35, you can see where he's at in comparison to Calzaghe. Have a feeling he's gonna be at another level.

hopkins signed for the fight then pulled out.

froch was barely a name back in 2007.

it was hopkins' fight to pull out of - calzaghe was barely a name in the states then
    thats my point

when that situation changes, british fighters get the fights they want
    when it doesn't, they don't

    Yeah...

To become an ATG, Ward would have to:

either: beat 4-5 B+ fighters, 2-3 A- fighters and at least be very competitive against 1-2 A level fighters.

So far, he has beaten Kessler (B+ level on the night) and Froch (B+ level on the night.

Perhaps my standards are a bit high, but... meh. Granted, the SMW/LHW divisions might not be deep enough to allow him to do that...

or: he would have to put in 3-4 A- performances and 1-2 A performances. I think on this score he is a lot closer. He has performed at A-/A level at least 2-3 times now...

So even though his resume doesn't stack up yet, his performances do help a lot, and ultimately it all comes down to level of performance.

Yeah, fractured hand. It's still a bit unclear whether it happened before or during the Froch fight. I believe he said himself it was before. Makes the performance even more impressive if so.

I'd like to see him travel outside of California. Go to England,go to New York etc.

And yes he's already beaten bad Chad,I'd like to see Andre Ward, the light heavyweight champion.
