I've never sat down, stop watch in hand, film in slow motion, etc... to gage speed. Taylor has a 'whoa....' factor sometimes when he throws a punch. I never had that reaction with Pdub in the Winky fight ONCE!

I've been watching some of Paul's fights today, and I notice something I think is very interesting.

Everytime Paul misses with a left, he leaves the left side of his head and face wide open.

    Let that one sink in:hey

OH crap. Let's hope Team Pavlik doesn't notice that. Or any of their spies here on the board. That would be terrible.

OK. Sitting back picturing it, going through the motions. Paul throws a looping left, excuse me an "angle punch" with his 20% connect rate, follow through takes him around with the RIGHT side of his face exposed......

    Sinking in....
    Sinking in....
    Sinking in....

    Is Lockettesque a word? :D

Remember when I used to critisize KP for falling in when the right missed? What Paul does is 3 maybe 4 times worse!

I really should do Winky/Pdub and Pavlik/Taylor 2 back to back this weekend. That first fight is hard for me to watch though.

For awhile I bought into the story that said PW is way better than he was when he fought Margo, but I just watched the Margo and Phillips fights back to back, and that story isn't true.

Williams does the same thing over and over. He attacks and flurries, turns the opponent to his right, attacks and flurries, turns the opponent to his right, attacks and flurries, ad nauseum. He really needs to bring something more than that if he wants to survive against KP, but he said he isn't going to train any differently.

I still believe its a 50/50 fight and Im using the margarito/williams fight as my precursor of why this fight will be close.

Margarito started out very slow and was able to knock Williams around towards the later rounds and you could just get the vibe a couple more of those punches and Williams would of been out, now imagine that with Pavlik's power.

I also dont believe if it goes to the scorecards then its an automatic win for Williams. Each round will be faily competitive, and it could very well be that whichever fighter has the loudest fans in the arena will get the decision.

That sucks -- my guy will have the louder fans, but so what -- what you said is true, and it sucks.

Williams landed less than 24% against Winky, and winky spent much of his time just standing there behind his guard.

Paul brings a lot of things to the ring, but accuracy is not one of them. He's like the Anti-Arthur! Throws and throws, but misses guys standing flat footed in front of him!

I've been saying this for years. Williams often pushes out arm punches just to be busy. Sometimes it works. Sometimes that strategy, however, gets the busy fighter to eat a big right hand. Just the sort of right hand that Pavlik has with power in spades.

That lazy punching technique on Williams' part is why I believe Mayweather could have picked him apart with counters. It's the reason I wouldn't be surprised to see him eat some HEAVY shots from Pavlik.

When Margarito is able to slip punches, you know his opponent can't throw worth a damn.

I always liked up thru Miranda and a couple times in Taylor 1, If Pav REALLY landed a right, he'd pull it back and do a "fist pump" of sorts.:hey

Always knew when he pumped his fist after a shot...the end was VERY near.:hey:p

    Pretty good post.

Also, against a guy probs a little bigger overall (Pavlik couldn't make 147 in a million years). I really look for Pavlik to mix his work up from head to body, and it should take a toll on P-Will.

I know folks are tired of hearin' of the Miranda fight, but it's worth a watch. Pavlik doe NOT care if you are throwin', he throws at the same time.

    FOTY...Pavlik TKO 7.
