yes, he did over throw the right hand, but he was trained by Manny Stewart! all of the fighters to come out of Kronk gym kinda throw the right hand that way, and yes, it is a little silly to base my judgement on a one round fight, but maybe i'm just in love with McClellan's style, something about it (no homo) and do you seriously believe that Jones would've beat him? seriously take everything into account and tell me, do you really think that? The only person to decsively beat McClellan was Benn (lets not take into all the intangibles of that fight) another fighter that Jones didn't fight, so you really can't gauge a Jones-McClellan fight on those grounds

That's a good way to put it.

When I hear "boxer-puncher", I think of fighters like Marvin Hagler, Alexis Arguello, the two Sugar Rays.

I'm not basing it on those grounds (and McClellan was beaten earlier in his career as well), I'm basing it on styles. If McClellan was made to look technically poor by Julian Jackson and the like, what would someone with Jones' speed and countering ability do to him? As I said, I'd expect Roy to play it safe, which would be wise, but I'd expect him to make a show-case out of exploiting McClellan's short-comings. Roy did some things not by the book, sure, but that was a part of his style, setting traps to bait the opponent into opening up. His speed and defensive reflexes made his "errors" extremely difficult to take advantage of, whereas McClellan just made errors, and easily exploitable ones. I'd bet a large amount of money on Jones.

Joe Louis is the quintessential example. I always think of SRR as more of a boxer-puncher-mover type. That's why he's one of the best if not the GOAT. He had it all really.

i know G-Man was beaten earlier in his career, but Benn, really beat him convincingly, and all i'm saying is with McClellan's spped, you don't think he could've landed a shot or two on Roy? and what do you think would happen then?????

You really think Roy's chin was THAT BAD? Roy was a smarter fighter than people give him credit for. In his prime, if McClellan hit him with one or two shots, it probably wouldn't be lights out. Roy would roll with the punch and be enough out of range where it wouldn't have full effect. He'd go back to countering G-Man to pieces.
