hearns. the combination of his physical talent and boxing I.Q made him extremely lethal. one of my favorite fighters.

tyson, one of my other favorites, is also a worthy choice. we won't see that combination of speed and power from a heavy for some time. tyson had a complete arsenal of punches, which he put together in beautiful combinations.

Joe Louis' defense was far better than Marciano's defense, but Marciano's offense was his best weapon and better than Louis'.

Marciano's offence was better than Louis'?

    BS, and total.

Louis is better balanced with better technique, a far, far better left, arguably a better right and past prime he KO'd Walcott earlier than a prime Marciano was able to KO a past peak Walcott.

So what this is based on is beyond me.

Despite his horirble balance, Marciano did make my top 20 when I made one, I think.

Just because he did not go after people and try to hurt them does not mean that he does not have a great offense.

He would still have the same offence if he went after people, he would just have used it more often.

Jones had offense that nobody can compare to, he hit like a train at MW and SMW and had handspeed, punch variety and balence that in combination I have not seen anybody come close to bar a prime Tyson or Hearns.

Alexis Arguello deserves a mention. His left hook was knocking Escalera all over the place, and then his right hand was doing a one shot job on guys like Costello and Rooney. His left hook to the body finished of Kobayashi, and his uppercut to the stomach almost killed Mancini. Alexis Arguello had every punch in the book, and knockout power in both hands.
