I think it is the true measure of a champion to comeback after your first loss and regain your title or improve dramatically. Fighters such as Duran, Leonard, Hearns, Whitaker and more recently Tszyu all did great things after their first loss and proved what champions they are. Hamed wimped out and Lewis got nailed again due to laziness, it will be interesting to see how Hatton handles it and to a lessor extent Williams. Mosley was never the same after loss number one and Trinidad was the same. The jury is still out on Forrest, i'm not sure what to make of DLH's career post Trinidad loss.

DLH career was still good but not great after the tito loss. It didn't really affect him much. He has always been good, just right under from being great IMO. Except for Hopkins nobody has really beat his ass!

Might be early to say, but Jermain Taylor. At least he improved his defense and began to use his brain alittle more after being brutaly KO'd. We will see if he can make a strong comeback @ 168 after his first official lost.

Taylor doesn't qualify. He's only fought once since his first loss, and it was against the guy he lost to. He didn't even make the proper defensive adjustments until the second round and he still lost. Furthermore, Pavlik made it very easy for Taylor to defend against him. Pavlik rarely threw any body punches and kept throwing the same combo over and over again. Pavlik was completely predictable in that fight.

Improved: Paul Briggs - lost his second pro-fight to an unknown in Larl Zada, because, in Briggs' own words he 'trained for Larl Zada on the bong'

Declined: Jeff Fenech - his first loss was controversial to Azumah Nelson. He himself admitted after that robbery that he basically threw his discipline out the window and started partying instead of training. Nelson wiped the floor with him in their rematch and Fenech went on to lose another 2 times by KO before retiring.
