Or... Everyone else woke up. He was always slow and there to be hit - it's just he has long enough between fights that the heavy ass hype-train has time to build momentum. Joyce ain't bad, but he ain't the unstoppable force that some around here would've had you believe.
It'd be interesting to see... It'd break a myth either way. Wilder hasn't exactly knocked out a bunch of guys with reputations for a iron chins, and whilst Joyce has taken the biggest hits guys like Dubois can throw, Dubois has hardly been knocking out granite either. There's no doubt Wilder hits hard and Joyce has a decent chin - but is either of them as special as often claimed?
Based on what!?! He hasn't fought anyone with a pulse yet, and AJ has finished more people more consistently.
What do you mean what happened? Joyce has no defence and never really has, because his chin is made of granite and he can take insane shots. He wears his opponents down.
Joyce is a top 5 HW. He is going to struggle to fight anyone in the top 5 or get a title shot. Due to the current attitude of promoters and boxing management to actually allowing their fighters to take a risk. I am interested to see how long his chin stands up. If it’s pure granite then he could conceivably apply his current tactics successfully against anyone successfully. Usyk would be the toughest opponent for him out of the current top 5.
Joyce has underrated defence, he’s vulnerable to looping shots but when it comes to straight punches he is very evasive and can parry well. He moves as little as possible and that’s why he never gets tired. People watch it and don’t see much but that’s because they don’t understand the subtleties of boxing, and most people seem to be terrible at seeing what’s actually happening. A good example of that was the first Pac-Bradley fight, Bradley was making small movements to make almost everything miss - yet the commentators and fans were shocked at the decision because they couldn’t see that those punches weren’t landing.
