Did he freeze or is Jacobs that good? Quillin was no chump. Even after all those shots, he came back swinging, but he never lost that dear in headlights look. Honestly, the fight against GGG might be brutal. I don't even know if I want to watch it as a boxing fan. Both of them are going to go out there trying to hurt each other bad. You almost want the fight to end fast because it's unlikely that it will be a boxing match. Either way, hopefully neither get hurt. Anyway, what happened to Quillin?
**** happens. I know that explanation sucks but he just didn't have the chin or defense to handle Jacobs that night... on top of it possibly being a fluke. Hard to say. Wouldn't mind a rematch to make sure. They match up in a way that could make for a trilogy with each fight ending in four rounds or less lol
Quillen was Bambi legged, but I'd have let him take a couple more flush shots before I stopped it. It was only the first round.
He got caught cold by a full powered Danny. It might have turned out to be a decent scrap had he not been caught, but that's boxing.
He got caught. The real question is, what happened with Quillin after Jacobs? Is he still moving on to bigger and better things?
Quillin was never that good anyway, Quillin ran from Golovkin for a long time, even for good money. Quillin, wide punches, slow, off balance, shaky chin, was going lose to a good fighter anyway..........I think Golovkin Vs. Jacobs will be a war, Jocobs has the home town advantage, owns he judges, referee, boxing commission, but don't think the judges will be a factor, the ref might be a factor though, afterall, SOB Ward is helping train Jacobs as was reported in the news..............
As others said he got caught early. But I think there's more to the story. Quillin had a little bit of Jermain Taylor syndrome: i.e. he got the world title before he'd completely matured as a fighter, and then, rather than improving, he regressed with his level of competition. He won the title in a wild fight with N'dam, getting by mostly on talent and enthusiasm. Then he was a mixed bag against Guerrero before his talent bailed him out with a violent stoppage. After that he slipped further, looking vulnerable against Rosado and Konechy, before his draw with Andy Lee, where he looked unfocused and slightly jaded. That's not the trajectory to your performances you want when you're going in against Jacobs, who is also extremely talented, but who is hungry and focused on top of that.

Very good post. I completely agree, Quillen never really improved after N'Dam fight. He relied on his size and power and was never a good boxer. Looked completely unprepared for the Jacobs bout.
Jacobs is a better boxer than Quillin. I bet on Jacobs that night but I wasn't expecting an early KO.
Jacobs had a great game plan. low n behold it worked! Quillan was a decent competitor however Jacobs steamrolled him just like he had been told to do. lets hope jacobs plan for GGG is just as accurate!
it was a cherry pick gone wrong. quillin the ducker thought jacobs would be easy work. now he appears to have retreated into retirement.
