Morrison had Lewis lined up for a big pay day. Bentt was a good amateur. Morrison buzzed him early, then went in with no defense, and got caught with a counter punch, exposing his suspect chin and could not recover.

Morrison was actually very shaky on the way up, he was almost beaten by a tier two Russian in Yuri Vaulin, a boxer type with limited power. The fight was on the undercard of Holyfield vs Foreman, and should have been a coming out party for Tommy. Instead he was badly exposed in victory. I knew then Morrison would need a KO to beat anyone decent, and it better come early.

I have read Tommy was a real wild man type. He liked parties, when though women like a pack of chewing gum, and was stubborn as a mule to train. He never developed defense, or a counter punch. Both were badly needed.

I disagree. He lost to Lewis because he couldn't get in close without taking a battering and he lost to Mercer because Mercer spun and maneuvered out of the corner in a way that caused Morrison to lose track of where he was for just a split second, which allowed Mercer to catch him by surprise and unleash the chain reaction of that finishing combination. I don't see how a better chin is likely to have saved him.

Lewis took Mercer`s punches better than Tommy did.

I don't know, I think the mere fact that Tommy even survived that many unanswered blows without becoming a vegetable says something in his favor.

What's all this bull**** about Tommy having a weak chin? He never even went down against Mercer.

Morrison stunned his opponent became overconfident and over aggressive (probably looking to finish the fight quick and look great to sell his next fight with Lewis) and walked into a great counter by Bentt. Bentt seized the moment jumped on Tommy at that was all she wrote. Tommy was never the same.

Brent went for Tommy's middleweight chin early & it worked for him, he took his shot immediatly and he was correct in doing so
