If Manny Pacquiao easily beats Antonino Margarito the will be continued demands for a match up with himself and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
If Margarito beats Pacquiao even by the smallest of margens. The interest in Mayweather/Pacquiao will no doubt subside, and be replaced by demands for
Mayweather vs. Martinez, Williams, Bradley or even Margarito if he were to beat Pacquiao impressively.

What happens if Pacquiao wins a very close fight. One in which the score is close 115-113 or 116-112. What if it is a split decision? What happens if Pacquiao wins while popular opinion is that the fight could have gone either way, or popular opinion says that Margarito was deserving of the win?
    How would this effect Myweather/Pacquiao?
Would be looked at in the view of a win is a win. Keeping Mayweather/Pacquiao as the fight to make, or would another boxer such as Martinez, Williams or Bradley for example be moved in to replace Pacquiao?

Pacman - Mayweather is starting to get corny... if these guys can't get it together enough to make the biggest payday in history.. then they don't deserve it ! " Real Talk " these guys sitting around thinking of excuses NOT to fight each other when they should be looking at the big picture .. . I say Let Mayweather retire in peace and lets get on with the Fight Game !!!! ... boxing has been here long before Floyd Mayweather and will be here long after... Just my opinion ..

If Pac beats Margo, Mayweather will have to fight on Pac's terms to be even considered as a next opponent.

Williams and Martinez at jrMW > Margarito.

So yes, he still has challenges left.

but he does have the right to retire.

He won't fight Martinez and doesn't have to.

Williams? 90% of Pac fans feel Pac easily schools Williams because Quitana beat him.

    He has no challenges.

Pac will fake a KD in his fight with Margarito so it will look like he doesn't have it anymore.

Floyd will then jump in to be his next opponent.

I think this Pac/Marg fight is a phoney just to bait Floyd. :)

Thread scenario is a WIN WIN for boxing fans.

In a close fight scenario we're talking about a back and forth FOTY-type fight.
    Immediate re-match!

A one-sided beating by Pac means FLoyd will continue to duck him which is fine with me. Pac can move on to Williams, JMM, Berto, Martinez, etc or just ride off into the sunset with a better legacy than Floyd!

pac destroys margo. it won't be close. arum wouldnt risk it. arum has been bleeding inside to tap into the market that is the mexican viewing public. he'll put pac in mexico to do it if he cant get margo licensed to fight in cowboy stadium....he's willing to put jcc jr in the ring w/ kelly to do it.

arum has one of the biggest forces in recent boxing memory in his stable. no way he's gonna let one of his own stablemates derail the gravy train.

As others have said, a close fight would probably do more to encourage Mayweather to fight Pac; however, I don't feel it will be close, and Margarito would have to get the KO or just brutally murder Pac for him to ever earn a decision, anyway.

Pacquiao and Margo should stage a very close fight. Might help Floyd decide to finally fight Pac.

Pac KO Margo impressively, e.g. 4th rnd, + total stoppage - bye bye Pac-Floyd.
