In B.J. Penn's last fight against GSP, Penn looked weight-drained and was completely dominated. Florian says that he might finish Penn of in the 1st round. Assuming Florian can pull-off the win, what then of B.J. Penn???

    A. Penn wasn't "weight drained" against GSP, he wasn't big enough to compete with him at WW, and just imagine what would happen to Florian if he fought GSP at WW :admin No way he makes it 4 full rounds with Rush.

    B. If Florian beats Penn, he deserves all the credit in the world and enters the top 10 P4P list

    C. Penn will then have to work his way back to a title shot or if his contract is up soon, maybe he'll go to Strike Force

The give Kenny all the credit. The guy has been around for awhile and is a solid fighter. BJ will need to go back the drawing board big time. Maybe he needs to re-evaluate his career as a fighter. Dunno really.

    I would be completely shocked.

If it happens either he goes of the deep end and retires/goes crazy/whatever

What would likely happen is he gets a fight with another contender, chokes him out in the first, and then wins the rematch with Kenny.

If Florian beats Penn - then he deserves all praise and no excuses. I for one will be surprised if Florian isn't carried out after round 1.

I love BJ, he was my Favorite fighter until MAchida and A. Silva has surpassed him in skills IMHO. I felt that the mantle of "spectacular" and "What would he do next?" aura has been passed on to the two Brazilians.

But in saying that, Id still be mildly surprised if Penn gets beaten clearly in this fight. Florian is no joke, I think this kid is very smart and dedicated.

Weight drained? where did you get that from? He doeasn't have to cut weight to fight at 170. And where did you hear Florian say he would finish BJ at the end of the first?

Anyway beating BJ is hard enough let alone finishing him in the first, I f florian wins it will be by points I would think, I have a hard time thinking Kenflo can finish BJ. i'm cherring for Florian but have BJ a good favourite.

I've taken Florian to pull the upset. This is his time me thinks.

Penn will be in his element, and will have a bigger chip on his shoulder than at any point in his life (and all short guys are born with Napoleonesque gold-embroidered chips on their shoulders...)

Penn is a heavy favorite. Florian upset would be of a very high magnitude. I like BJ quite a bit but have to say I'm rooting for the local boy and underdog tonight. :good

Thinking I might check out his gym at some point too, as it's a mere 10 minute busride away. Has anyone of note in the pro ranks come out of there, anyone know?
