    In
an ideal world you'd want to go 2-4 weeks before fight

Gets very average fighters into world title fights. I don't think that is too bad. Its not like any of them would do miles better with a different coach.

Crolla got knocked out by Matthews a few years back , look at him now.

Hard to say, Gallagher has a slight ego so people will like to criticise. Being honest a few years back I never believed Crolla would be in world title fights, albeit where the lightweight division is poor just now.

He has done a good job regardless of what people say. The only fighter he has who potentially could be in that elite level is Callum Smith.

All the top fighters in the world would probably be world champions regardless of who trains them, usually the fighter makes the trainer.

90% of the fighters he has are above where they should be in terms of belts/rankings and they have Joe to thank for that he's a world class trainer but to be fair he struggles when he comes up against truly world class Talent. In my opinion I think callum is the best he has and he should be a unified world champion in the next 12-18 months and can even become a 2 weight world champion but weather he can do that with Joe remains to be seen. Hosea Burton is a class act as well but if he uses Joe's tactics against the top 3 in his devision is 2 early KO defeats and a very very wide points defeat.

his gameplan in every fight is 'tuck up, keep it tight for 3/4 rounds then come on strong the rest of the fight' you cannot give away rounds to world level opponents, nor can you hope they will fade and tire. Theres always talk on sky about joes great gameplans, this is his gameplan each and every fight.

That's more down to his fighters promoters and the number of belts out there - wazza's relationship with the WBO massively helped beefy and the Hearn/sauerland love in got 2 fights for fatty smith against Abraham, and I'm not counting quiggs paper mache belt that he lost in the only legitimate world title fight he had.

Scotty cardle is another one who I do think has the talent but he's such a bad choice for him he will probably lose soon, giant warning signs in the masher Dodd fights

Haven't you noticed, Billy? The other guy is "ALWAYS better than Joes guy once you get to a certain level. Surely once in a while he should be able to get ONE of his boxers across the line at top level. But he fails, every time.

Pretty much this. That said if you were a particularly talented fighter I doubt you'd head to Joe's gym to maximise your talents. I can't really see him working with a Linares type fighter. And getting the best out of them.

He's become known for a certain type of boxing and the flashier types won't want to change their style for him. C. Smith is prob the slickest he has so it'll be interesting to see what he does with him. I think he's another who has flattered to deceive against poor opposition though.

Recently his fighters have only lost to the likes of Ward, Linares and Canelo who are all real quality and the best at their weights.

Gallagher does a great job especially considering how big his stable is. I reckon we'll see the next lot eg. Morrison, Burton, C Smith and Johnson all go on and do very well. I also reckon Quigg and Crolla will win world titles again so he's not doing too bad imo.

Missed out the likes of frampton and pedraza, the top level coaches get the odd win as an underdog/50-50 against a legit name (see mcguigan/frampton/santa Cruz, fury/fury/klitschko, Coldwell/McDonnell/kameda, mcdonnell/degale/Dirrell, ingle/brook/porter) but Gallagher has zero wins that rank with that aforementioned five from the past two years in terms of quality of opponent relative to his fighter - can't give him stick for the Canelo or Ward defeats (possibly for Paul smiths awful conditioning) but not getting wins v pedraza, near shot Abraham, frampton, linares (who Mitchell showed was a gettable win for crolla) and only coming close in the first Abraham fight (largely because Abraham didn't take him seriously) shows his limitations

Paul Smith is garbage there's not much you can do with him at world level. Pedraza is good but I agree Stephen Smith should be winning that fight. I think Quigg could have definitely done better against Frampton as well and it was a bad game plan i'll admit that I just don't like how much stick Joe's getting on here considering how many good fighters he continues to churn out.

Again? Rigondeaux was the WBA champion and Quigg would never fight him.

Callum smith will be exposed soon, he just isn't progressing in my opinion. He has big physical advantages over most his opponents which is why he's gunna be involved in title fights but when he steps to a degale he will be taken apart remember I said it here first.

If Callum is smart he would leave Gallagher and move to a trainer who's gonna work on the defensive side, not someone who's gunna say just put the high guard and march forward. The silver lining for Callum is the 168 division is really poor, in my opinion probably the worst division out there in terms of depth so I'll expect him to beat a chudinov or Sturm to get one of the trinkets

Gallagher talks himself up when his fighters win.
Liam Smith flew over late to the States and Crolla was left to train alone. 2 "world" titles lost in a week but at least Gallagher got plenty of TV exposure.
