I have no problems with anyone saying that Whitaker can defeat Mayweather. That is not the subject of this thread. The subject of this thread is what would be a more likely scenario, or which would require a lesser amount of hell to freeze over.

I see a lot of fan boy type, want to be sucking the dick of, idol worship jargon with very little substance. I don't believe the OP was starting a cheer leading contest. The OP wanted to know which scenario was more likely, as in more justifiable.

At 147, Ray Leonard has a size, speed, and power advantage like no other opponent Whitaker ever faced. I cannot make a realistic scenario where Whitaker can defeat Leonard.

I made a realistic scenario for Floyd to defeat Pernell by decision.
That does not mean the Mayweather could automatically pull that off. I just see it being more likely than Whitaker defeating Leonard at welterweight.

Floyd Mayweather's resume is not better than Whitaker all time, nor at welterweight. Whitaker trumps him in both regards. However, Mayweather would probably stand a better chance at being victorious over Leonard than Whitaker does.

I want someone to actually give examples of why Whitaker is any more Mayweather's "Kryptonite"than Leonard is Whitaker's. Until then, a lot of these posts are merely Craptonite.

In your own words, what problems did Leonard have with Benitez?

    Mayweather beating Whitaker.
When there are two highly skilled and clever boxers. I'll take the bigger man. Mayweather is bigger than Whitaker and Leonard is also Better than Whitaker.
I'd Pick Leonard to beat Mayweather.

It would be hard for anyone to beat Ray Leonard at 147.. The one who fought Hearns. Had Ray not retired in 1982 a fight with Pryor at 147 would have seen Aaron knocked out by Ray. Ray was that good at 147..

Pea was a ghost in the ring. He could hop around to avoid punches or stand still with his feet planted and avoid punch after punch. Benitaz had his radar, but I think Whitaker has radar 2.0.
I guess it is a forgone conclusion that Willie Pep had better evasive capabilities then whitaker, then wow! Bravo Willie.

I think both fights would be close.
I think Leonards work rate against Whitaker, would be the difference, if he were to win. Leonard, by volume of punches thrown, I feel would steal, or just win rounds. Against a fighter like Leonard, who also has speed, I think Whitaker, could possibly lose rounds, because he was so slick, laid back, Leonard would simply outpunch him.

Floyd, I think would be a chess match with Whitaker. I feel very little solid punches would be landed. This is a 12 rounds decision for sure. I go with Whitaker, I feel in a fight in which very few solid punches would land, Whitaker would land the most, plus possibly look better. I think not by much, but Mayweather in my opinion is a little easier to hit.

What's more likely to happen is that Whitaker Floyd would take place at either LW-140 rather than WW, and Whitaker would make Ray miss a lot but wind up winning four or less rounds.

Whitaker is being seriously over-rated by some here. It's just silly to say that Mayweather has no chance. Don't forget that Mayweather is the bigger man, and IMO their skills are pretty comparable.

I find it interesting that I wrong when I thought that I would be in the minority for picking Floyd beating Pea as the more likely scenerio???? I thought that many would allow their dislike for Floyd to overrule human reason....

I would still pick Pea as the favorite and would be surprised although not shocked if Floyd pulled this out...I just don't see anyway that Pea would/could beat SRL at WW, and would call his chances super slim....Based upon that I am not sure what the other 10 voters saw????

Floyd beating Whitaker is more likely to happen, Floyd is a pretty tight fighter for today's standard.

Mayweather beating Whitaker by some distance.

The pea was still great on his best night at 147, but he had numerous mediocre efforts as he slipped further into coke and egomania.

If he fights like he did for about half his fights at 147 against mayweather he probably loses.Efforts like Jacobs, Rivera, Hurtado etc would not cut it.

Unless it's a pre-ranzany\Price version of Leonard against Whitaker at his 147 best then it's hard to imagine him beating Ray, though it would only be easy for Leonard against the coked up Pea.

    It's not very likely.
