Eusebio Pedroza vs Bernard Taylor

 

Tyson vs Douglas

 

Your not wrong on this one, this was an abysmal fight. I don't mind a boxer using clever movement to box smartly, but what Taylor was doing was plain running. And Pedroza could never really get set, which made for an eye sore of a fight.

 

Micheal Dokes vs Gerry Coetzee

 

Pep-Saddler I. Maybe not a bad Pep performance but a great Saddler one.

All time most disappointing fight has been mentioned...Duran-SRL II. The shock of seeing Duran wave off the fight was still resonating in the boxing world for months; it still is shocking.

Larry Holmes vs Mike Weaver. Larry was under the weather and also spreading himself thin trying to help promote the match. MSG his chance to come out of the shadows a bit.
He wasn't focused on Mike Weaver. Holmes almost got knocked out. Only impressive in the heart and recovery ability he displayed. Mike was putting it on Larry much of this bout.

 

Alexis Arguello vs Vilomar Fernandez

 

Was reading about this the other day. Weaver really gave Holmes a fight from hell.
If that had being someone with out the heart and chin of Larry, Weaver could have been champ that night.

 

People always say that Larry was under appreciated has a champion…but he could be so inconsistent

 

Max Schmeling vs Max Baer - he just wasn't himself in that fight.

 

Chavez was still a top contender in 96 & put up a much better performance against Dela Hoya in the rematch. Leonard was coming off a pretty good performance win against Duran in their 3rd & final match before he fought Norris, and was a 3 to 1 favourite going into the fight. They weren't prime, but they were far from shot to bits & should have performed better than they did...

 

Few more i thought of.

Wilfred Benitez vs Bruce Curry Benitez floored twice in his prime quite a shock for a defensive master.
Manny Pacquiao vs Agapito Sanchez horrible foul filled fight.
David Tua vs Lennox Lewis not that losing to Lewis is bad, but Tua came in overweight and was lackluster.
Jose Napoles vs Armando Muniz 1 poor performance from the usual brilliant Napoles, who got gifted this win by the referee.

 

Thing is with Leonard, he and a lot of other s, totally underestimated Norris.
But sugar was losing a lot of his natural speed and reflex s by then.
And Norris wanted it badly.
Tbh, if Sugar had taken on any of the top names at the time, I think he loses.
Just my ten pence worth, mate.

 

I agree hindsight is a wonderful thing, but i think Leonard and Chavez were pretty much past it at that point. Regarding Chavez vs ODLH 1 i do think Chavez was a bit unlucky in their 1st fight, he had a horrible cut in the opening minutes of the fight. And was never allowed to get into the fight, i wouldn't really say that was a bad performance on his part, more unlucky at a freak occurrence getting cut with basically the first punch of the fight.

SRL vs Duran 3 wasn't really impressive IMO, it was a sparring session between two past their prime fighters in an abysmal fight. I agree Norris dominating SRL at that time must of been a bit surprising, but looking back with hindsight. SRL had a gift vs a past it Hearns, a sparring session vs a past it Duran. And maybe moving down to Jr Middleweight a weight he hadn't fought at since 1984, combined with being 35 years old and having a lay off after the Duran fight, maybe his performance vs Norris isn't so surprising.
