Ortiz > Solis a week ago, Ortiz > Solis now. Nothing's changed on account of Ortiz outboxing Wilder before being stopped.

The amateurs can give you a good grounding, but amateur success does not guarantee adaption to the professional game.

If a guy can't cut it as a pro, it doesn't matter what he did as an amateur. The professional sport is the real sport, the ams just prepare you for it (in theory). Glittering amateur records do not factor into boxing greatness, either. If they did, the likes of Teofilo Stevenson, who'd rather doff his cap to some Commie dictator than strive for real greatness, would appear in everyone's ATG lists. Thankfully, they don't.

Ortiz was more suited to the real sport than Solis was, it doesn't matter how many times Solis beat him before they turned over. Ortiz has had a much better professional career than Solis, and it's not as if he's a model of health or immaculately disciplined himself. We can talk about Solis not applying himself as he should have, but there are plenty of successful professionals we can say that about. The bottom line is that Solis just didn't have what it takes.

Luis Ortiz did not accomplish anything significant in professional boxing that Odlanier Solis didn't. So there's no basis to claim Ortiz > Solis because of "PRO BOXING DOE DOE DOE".

Boxing is boxing! Be it amateur or pro! I challenge anybody to find me an instance when a boxer lost 9 times to an opponent in the amateurs in a row, and then ended up beating the same opponent in the pros after initially losing 9 times in the amateurs.

Amateur wins do mean something. In amateur boxing, you can't cherry pick particular opponents conveniently. When he had his chance to prove he was better than Solis, Ortiz always failed by losing each time to Solis when they faced each other.

Likewise, Luis Ortiz had his chance to face Vitali Klitschko and do better against him than what Solis did. Yet again, he failed by not even attempting to fight Vitali Klitschko in the first place.

If anything, this proves Odlanier Solis > Luis Ortiz. Since Solis at least had the courage to step into the ring with Vitali Klitschko. Meanwhile, Luis Ortiz stayed away until Vitali retired and Wladimir Klitschko became old.

All of this proves how overrated Deontay Wilder is!

Yep well put. And Solis was on a good run before getting clipped by Vitali in one round. That just kinda took the wind out of his sails. After that he was pretty much done.

Solis beat Ortiz 4-5 times in the amateurs so that kinda tells us who was better in my opinion. Lol At least the Solis of the Klitschko fight was better.

Luis Ortiz was ducked by Every champion, was an undefeated deadly counter puncher, that never been dropped in the last years, until he met Deontay Wilder

Ali Raymi, Vitali Klitschko and eventually contenders beat down Odlanier Solis

Ortiz knocked out old Tony Thompson in 6.

Solis lost to old Tony Thompson. Twice.

You know, both are skilled Cuban HWs with good amateur background,

But Solis was way more lazy as a pro and it damaged him badly.

Oh you know, Solis owned Ortiz in amateurs.

Oh and Jorge Luis Gonzalez owned Lewis and Bowe in amateurs, too.

Well Solis is very skilled boxer but is 6`1 or 6`2 max and has very average power. While Ortiz is at least 6`3 and has very good power.
Also Solis always shows up in awful shape and Ortiz while not being ripped is okayish shape for 40-50 years old guy.

Tony Thompson beat Solis, whereas Ortiz retired Thompson. Other than that it’s the fact Ortiz did 500x better in his pro career than Solis.

Lol Todd and Wllis aren't Solis backers. Neither are the fools doing everything they can to try and discredit Wilder.
