For ****s sake you learned a lot about boxing, and fast. I just flat out don't have the aptitude for the older fighters, although I have taken interst in a few that I really like. I have been watching boxing for a while, and understand the sport and the fighters well as I watch it, but the classic stuff would take a lot of research.
I dont know.... its the characters in boxing.... the rocky movies... its alot man this sport has a warm history man.....gotta love it
Now you have Meldrick Taylor knocking someone out. Was it Chavez, or Pernell? Who is on first..? Just ****ing with you.
The older fighters were the first ones I took interest in. There is so much more history involved in boxing than MMA. I was interested in learning all I could about the old-timers, while staying up to date with the current scene. I am still learning new stuff every day about them, and especially the lowest weight classes, which I've recently been taking a big interest in.
The whitaker chavez fight was a draw in the eyes of three judges. The boxing community scored it for Sweet Pea. Idiots make me upset!
no teammates no timeouts. and the beauty of sweet science and fighters exchanging blows toe to toe makes it so much more fun to watch compared to other fighting sports
because it's the hardest sport on earth, and to watch it at a high level is really awe inspiring. the simple objective of the sport, yet complex science behind it make you appreciate the brutal viloence 2 guys inflict on one another. even if you've only participated in it at the basic level, you gain so much respect for fighters who actually do it for a living. it's not a team based sport, so imo you are able to connect more with the fighters who bring different personalities to the game. also the different natures of how the outcome is decided makes the game the best on earth.
boxing is the best sport if you always rely on yourself and don't wan't any ****ing help from others. It is the best sport for me in the whole word, because you get to proved yourself
The pure form of competition ( but them most combat sports can claim that ) But also its place in history : Dempsey represented the changing America of the 20s Louis and Schmelling during the build up to the 2nd world war Ali during the time of the civil right movemnt Joe Frazier beating Ali at the end of the sixties Tysons reign of terror and crazy antics during the money hungry 80s I could go on...
Exactly! Also, at the elite pro level, boxers must be in great shape, have finely refined skills, and must be able to think and adjust under great individual pressure.
To me tho it looks 100% talent, and athletic ability, it's really the mind that plays the more important roll. YOu have to think in there. Disrupt the other's game plan. Get your opponent to drop his hands so you can make your move. It's the competetive sport of "damn I got hit and it hurt, ok, let me hit you back". Getting beat on and still wanting to finish. A chess match. Every man has a competitive edge. Everyone one of us fans see a match and say, "if it was me, I would have done so n so". WE all do it. It's like standing around your neighbor's garage watching him work on his car, you think you know what he's doing and want to give advice, but you have no clue. It's natural for men to think of survival of the fittest, and we LOVE action. Boxing is the sweet science, there's no denying that. We cling to those special talented fighers. They bring us back more and more with their beauty of dilvering a masterful performance. It's the whole testastrone and atmosphere that makes boxing the greatest of all sports!
