I feel you about ricky. I'm from the manchester area and over the thousands his hype was inescapable. From his magee and thaxton to pacman and floyd yeah it's been a great ride.

Probably watching Rocky as a child funny enough.

In 2003 the first fight I ever saw live (John Duddy vs Tarek Richard I think). Duddy knocked the other guy out in 60 seconds. It was awesome.

Rahman knocking out Lewis. I didn't know who either guy was, but I knew it was a big deal. I had only heard about it at school, I finally saw the fight and man what a punch!

So naturally I was hyped for the rematch and saw Lewis score the brillant ko. So I watched the next Lewis fight. It started with me as a Lewis fan, then a fan of the heavyweight division, then a fan of the popular fighters in the other divisions, then just a huge boxing fan in general.

Rooting against Ali for his big mouth and then respecting him as he kept winning these big fights. Ali.

Bruno vs Bonecrusher Smith; points don't count if you get knocked out.
Reinvigorated by Benn-McClellan and then the internet.

:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl for me it started with Golota Bowe...crazy Golota but what a fight!!!
up to 80 power punches landed on Bowe in some rounds,Golota -600 punches throw in 7 rounds,70% landed most of them power punches...how the hell riddick survived that...and kept punching back
David Haye landed 20 power punches in entire 12 rounds fight vs Wlad and some people believe that was a great fight

My dad had a video called Mike Tysons greatest hits. It was Tysons story upto becoming champ. The knock outs blew my mind.
After that Id say the rise of Lennox on Sky

When I first watched Hagler vs Hearns. It was a re-run, late 80's. Then I watched a couple of Tyson's fights and that was it.

When me and my dad plus family watched JMM get up and whoop PACQUIAO's ass in the first fight. I wacthed boxing casually since I was a little kid, but after that fight I was hooked and spend most of my time on Kazaa, bearshare downloading old fights.... I was in my teens back then.. later joining a boxing gym boxed for 2 years... I loved imitating JMM and barrera who were my favorites back then. Even had a couple amateur fights, but then I turned 18... and just became a hardcore fan and focused on other things in my life and I left my gym.

Growing up in the 60's and 70's watching fighters like Gerry Quarry, Ali, Foreman , Fraiser. the fights then were on regular network tv. And they were the talk of the school, Neighborhood, And church for weeks after. There was no big build up to the fights like today just a few comments on the news or a talk show. But every body knew the fighters and when they were fighting. The champ was the Champ. And there was only one Champ.
All others were just great fighters. It is funny looking back at some of those fights they had regular bath robes and a towel that someone embroidered there name on it. No big flashy entrances, just a couple guys walking to the ring. If it went to the cards you never knew what was going to be the outcome. Score keeping was not a good system back then. I think there was a lot of Judges on payrolls back in the day.

Fight Night Round 4; Laugh if you must, but I was top 20 in the world at one point.

Since then I really have just watched and learned everything I can about boxing since then.
