Or go on to greater things.... judging whether the ring has completely encircled the £10 block.

Barnum-Bailey would be proud of him.

Decent jab though. ..for a few rounds:bbb

A proper trainer and team, his corner was shocking tonight.

He has big weaknesses and needs to improve in a lot of areas but he's only young, perhaps were all expecting too much.

If well drilled he can go far.... A rematch is only fair for Mcdermott though.

    ^ agreed

SugarSean, I agree with the sky commentary thing. I am not schooled in boxing so I tried to score without being influenced, It was really difficult because Jim Watt wanted to give everything to McDermott regardless of whether he deserved it.

I think Fury needs to step back and fight the lesser fighters that he hasn't fought yet. On the Bunce podcast he mentioned that Fury had fought a number of his forst 7 with positive records. Jim Watt called them bums.

I will keep my ears open for what he calls Scott belshaw in Prizefighter. "A big man and a real threat" no doubt

No, I lent them to Jim Watt funnily enough. What's wrong with saying McDermott won a close fight? Try watching the fight without the commentary and also remain impartial throughout. We're all entitled to an opinion so I won't attack yours as you clearly disagree.

I thought McDermott won it, i felt he was in front through out. That sometimes makes it seem wider than it was. I can't see where Fury won this fight. It should serve as a wake up call to him, get him to reign in his ego and train properly. The second coming of George Foreman he ain't, i get the feeling he truly believes all he says and will need a hard kayo to understand otherwise. But for a 7 fight novice ( which is what he is ) and not a world class fighter ( what he says he is ) it was not a bad performance.

    Bang on :good

I maybe had McDermott by a round but in no way was it a landslide like the useless Sky team were saying. Was a close fight and Tyson finished strong. Fury needs a decent trainer sharpish though :deal

    Immediate rematch.

McDermott really deserves it and Fury needs to eat a bit of humble pie and appreciate how lucky he was in this fight.

Audley Harrison started out like this. Shouting his mouth off and telling anyone who would listen he would be world champion when he'd only had a handful of fights.

As soon as he stepped up in class it became clear he wasn't even a great British fighter nevermind a world class one.

People might start to really dislike Fury after this.

He quite clearly needs a new trainer for a start and needs to work on conditioning and core strength, i feel he needs to work on his right hand a lot, he clearly has power but his poor co-ordination with it is a huge problem, needs a complete overhall and rethink of his defensive technique as theirs not much point in having decent headmovement without a decent guard

positives - can clearly dig in when needed and showed a lot of heart in the last couple of rounds to make the fight close, very good jab but needs to piston it instead of hanging it out at times as big john had an easy time of getting through the jab once fury had thrown it, i think furys footwork is quite decent for a guy of his size when hes content to just jab and move.

i had big john winning by a point or 2 in the end

I think Mcdermott wont the fight but it was very close would of even giving a draw, but it wasnt a landslide and i think fury did well for somebody who has had 7 fights and is in there with a seasoned veteran.
