What next for George Groves

Some top sparring and no rushing him into silly fights... maybe someone like Quigley would be perfect?? No further than Quigley though as that's a toughie imo..:good

Groves has all the attributes but just needs to be taken at the right pace, He's still so young..

 

Quigley would be perfect for Groves at his stage.

After his pointless American trip to fight against a nobody infront of nobdody we may actually see him get back into proving he is the best of British.

 

What a ****ing joke of a fight it was. He should be embarrassed that he let himself and his team get schmoozed by GBP. Only ****ing Schaefer was watching.

If he was in a decent fight, people would watch. Guys on his level are in 50-50 fights on MMA undercards and that is why people will watch the prelims.

 

I think Eastman is a good choice. With boxing politics as it is, Groves would probably qualify for the Guyana Title.

 

Yep. I can understand the wish to fight in America but at the expense of bigger and better oportunities over here...he is a domestic champion who should be headlining FNF and beating up all the contenders....prizefighter was made for him to walk through too.

Getting thrown in against a loser who came to lose in an empty hall was pointless and no Yank tv coverage either.

 

It did show us that Groves is not a puncher mind. Decent dig, nothing more.

 

That's if you base your opinions of boxers on one fight.

 

I added that to the rest of his fights. He's got a decent enough dig, but he's not blowing these guys away, I see him being fairly 'feather fisted' if he ever gets to Elite level.

hhmmm at the level he is fighting at refs tend to stop fights early. in championship fights, his power will really show.

 

I don't think it was a pointless assignment at all.

The opponent came to win (or at least to try to) - it was certainly more competitive than the Adamu fight and probably a fight with Dilks, title or not.

As Flea said, taught him some lessons - that he isn't going to knock people out all the time and that against a decent hitter you can't be wide open and rely on reflexes.
