Firstly , fingers crossed he makes a full recovery. IMO he won't go to America to fight Beltran because he knows he wont get a decision. Defo lacks power at the highest level. I don't think there will be a unification fight, I think Eddie knows the outcome and it would have to be in america especially after last nights antics. I don't believe top ranked fighters will want to come to Scotland after that last night. It leaves only 1 option.....domestic opponents in Scotland so Eddie can make his money Thoughts
If he comes through ok from his surgery mate he will likely have to face Crawford as mandatory a think, so keep dreamin makay. A would love to see a rematch in the staples centre mind you! Think Beltran deserves that hes a credit to boxin. Eddie said a rematch don't make sense, how come?
Theres no way ricky rematches beltran in america. He wont knock him out and u think he could possibly win on points.....NO WAY thats why burns won't fight in amercia. its not rocket science. he lacks power at world level so whats the chances of a points win across the pond?
He should take the easiest fights for the biggest money, stay champion for as long as possible. The mandatory challenger that's up next looks a little bit too tasty. A huge fight with Broner looked a big money earner a while back. These last two fights have been a bit of a nightmare for him though.
Beltran was finding it hard to tag Burns in the first round. Burn’s has the ability to outbox Beltran, he was able to do it successfully in the first round, if he decided to continue to use his reach advantage and just jab and follow up with his fast combinations, he could have made it a much easier fight. Ricky’s his own worst enemy, I doubt it can get much worse than that performance. Gonzalez was all wrong for him, however, Beltran should never have been that dominating. I would like to see him go to America, would love to see a fight against Beltran or a unification fight, if he’s going to win/lose at least it would be against the top guys in the division. Ricky deserves his spotlight in America, however, Eddie’s most likely going to milk the ‘Scottish’ fans. I don’t want to see him up against domestic opposition as it’s a step backwards.
I think the time out recovering will be good for Burns. He's fought 9 world title fights in almost exactly 3 years. The training alone takes a lot out of the body. A good recharge of the batteries and an eventual rematch with Beltran is in order. I believe the injured jaw REALLY hindered Burns last night. But that said, it was his own fault, if he had of kept his right hand by his head and his chin down he might have avoided it. Either way, props for fighting through it, most of us have broken a bone in our lives, we all know how agonising it is... Now imagine getting repeatedly punched on it by a strong professional athlete I had him lose by one point, but props where it's due. The rematch is the only way forward though.
as stated never thought burns was world level fringe may be but a world champion no way last two fights proved this imo
For the record.... IMO burns performance last night was down to the injury. not many would have carried on for 30mins with a broken jaw so hats off to him for that, but he defo lost the fight and i feel sorry for beltran. injury free i believe ricky is probably the best boxer out of all the lightweights in the division but he just lacks power at that level. This limits who and where he can fight and its a shame. The sport is a joke, fixing fights etc. oh well fingers crossed for a speedy recovery. Just spoke to billy and hes just on the way to visit ricky in hospital. He has had a titanium plate fitted this morning and confirmed it was actually a broken jaw he suffered in round 2.
so you now think burns is world level:huh:think if so crolla as no bussiness to expect a fight with him none , he would not beat demarco no way
Without all the bs politics i believe his boxing ability is world level. He's not got world level power but makes up for it with ability. He will never fight in America though, that i am sure of. With regards to Crolla, I'm not saying crolla deserves the shot but if the likes of Mitchell, cook and all the other poor opponents deserve a shot then Crolla does equally.
macky mate your private message not last month states you dont think burns is world class now you do , may i ask in one month what have you seen in burns to make you now think he is now world class:huh because i aint seeing it :bart i mean did you see him swinging wide from the hip last night
He was poor last night but i believe that was down to the injury. You have a broken jaw and your brain goes out the window. I believe his boxing ability is world class but his power lets him down bigtime. Thats why he will retire having not crossed the pond
demarco as world level ability and he aint even elite world level , so i ask any one here who think burns beats demarco
Ricky showed balls last night! But saying he only fought like that because of the injury is not true, If u watch Ricky fight u will see its the same all the time when someone stronger gets close to him, he doesn't fight on the inside he holds and that was the same against Beltran! But fair play to still stick in there and make the rounds competitive.
