What ol' school things would you bring back 2 boxing?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by john garfield, Jul 29, 2009.

  1. The big world title fights performing all over the world. (not just NY and LV)
Fighters dedication to consistant fighting and being the best (not the richest)
    Jack Dempsey crowd numbers!
Having the title of world champion actually mean something to society and media.
    Mike Tyson and Ali.

    I like this one^ : )

I agree with most here already. Boxing needs more exposure and the only way I know how to go about that is to a) have one recognized Champion in each division, and b) bring boxing back to the public on Broadcast television. Seems simple enough. NEver will happen though.

I disagree with everyone. I think it's a great idea to have like 8 belts in each division. This means that more fighters can claim that they are a "world champion". Isn't that great?

The most important thing in this sport MUST be fighter safety.Same day weigh ins and 15 rounders were what i was brought up on,but in reality serious injury and fatalities are best left in the archives.
My biggest gripe in boxing today is politics, the best being unable to fight the best because of arguments over tv and ppv.
Boxing promoters and managers used to be people who'd been involved in and had a knowledge of the sport, now anyone with enough contacts and greed can make money and exploit fighters.
Sorry for blabbing on and on.

Put the big fights back on Terrestrial TV,and pay the winner the lions share of the purse.:good

I would definatly get rid of super champs and Emeritus champs. it's bad enough that we have 4 belts per division without having 2 champs per belt just because one guy actually has the balls to go after the other champs. It may be hard to get just one champ per division as you'd face the challenge of deciding on a system to rank them and which title is the real one but there is no excuse for the super champ bull****.

Can anybody tell me why they did that?

In addition to everything already mentioned, i don't understand why they stopped doing ring introductions of former greats. The last time i saw that was when Ali and Frazier were introduced before Holyfield and Foreman squared off. Great tradition.

NO! tw. The clowns that sing The Star Spangled Banner can't reach the high notes, so they ****-it-up entirely, calling it an arrangement, but it's just an abortion.
